    • LAWRENCE, Kan. Air Max 97 Store . -- The story that will accompany Andrew Wiggins first game at Kansas, an impromptu exhibition during coach Bill Selfs summer camp, has already taken on a decidedly Paul Bunyan-esque quality. Those who were in the gym last week, and the thousands of people who have seen video of the game, know the real story. But when is reality as much fun as folklore? And the play that Wiggins made in the first couple of minutes against current and former Jayhawks lends itself to a tall tale. Whats fact is that the top high school prospect in the country, the odds-on No. 1 pick in next years NBA draft -- the Canadian LeBron James, as hes been called -- found himself in the open court with the ball in his hands and only NBA centre Cole Aldrich standing in his way. From there, the folk-hero version goes like this: Wiggins elevated from beyond the 3-point arc, posed midair for a couple of photos, autographed the ball and then slammed it down. The truth: Aldrich stepped aside and watched as Wiggins effortlessly dunked it. Either way, the play was enough to send Jayhawks fans into a tizzy, light up Internet message boards and burnish the almost mythical aura that already accompanies the 6-foot-7 swingman. "I let loose of all my nerves," the rising star from Vaughan, Ont., said, "so I felt good after that dunk. I just let my game come to me. Thats what happened. Thats what the fans wanted to see." Theyll want to see plenty more of it this season. Wiggins is arguably the most talented player to arrive in Kansas since Danny Manning in the 80s, and Self wonders whether anybody has created as much hysteria since Wilt Chamberlain. He has prototypical NBA size and athletic ability, a game already far more advanced than his peers, and an uncanny ability to make the most difficult plays seem pedestrian. He also has the unmistakable swagger, modest though he may be, of a player who simply knows that hes good. Its little surprise that autograph seekers already have descended on Lawrence, hoping to snag Wiggins John Hancock on a ball or a photo four months before his first real game. "Its kind of weird to me because weve recruited other good players before, but weve never had anybody with this kind of attention," Self said. "I kind of feel for him. Hes going to have to be able to tell people no, and we have to make it easier for him." Good luck with that. There are only a handful of college basketball programs in the country that can rival Kansas for pure passion, not to mention history or success. There are five banners hanging in the end zone of Allen Fieldhouse to represent the Jayhawks national championships, and dozens more herald more modest triumphs such as conference titles. Students often camp out for days in advance of a big game, and the raucous environment is one of the most intimidating in college sports. It was the environment that in part helped convince Wiggins to pick Kansas over a list of suitors that included North Carolina and Kentucky, a couple more tradition-drenched blue bloods. "Everyone here is really loving, friendly, so its good," Wiggins said. "Im getting to know people. Theyve been showing me around, so Ive been comfortable." Wiggins comfort level could be critical to the Jayhawks success this season. They lost all five starters from last years team to graduation or the draft, and return just a couple of reserves who played meaningful minutes. Self restocked with a recruiting class that included five-star recruit Wayne Selden and several other high-profile targets, but the low-key announcement that Wiggins would be joining them stole every headline across the state. It also turned some heads in the Big 12. "He brings so much athleticism to any place he plays," said West Virginia coach Bob Huggins, who often saw Wiggins play just up the road from Morgantown at Huntington Prep last season. "When everybody says youre the best player in the country, youre obviously pretty good." Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger said Wiggins was "as advertised," while Texas coach Rick Barnes let slip that even as a ninth-grader the lanky forwards game resembled that of Kevin Durant. "Believe the hype. Hes that good a player, a special player," Barnes said. "I think it speaks volumes about our league with the kind of players weve had come in through the years. Hes another one. He is a terrific, terrific talent and a very, very special player." Evidently, rival coaches arent afraid to build upon Wiggins near-superhero status. Self has been busy trying to tamp down those out-of-this-world expectations, pointing out whenever possible that Wiggins is just a freshman. But while he argues that Wiggins is "going to go through ups and downs like everybody else" in one breath, he adds in the next that "hes as talented as any player in the country, because from a raw athletic ability standpoint, he can do some things that Ive never had a player be able to do physically." So far, Wiggins has handled the attention with aplomb. He refused to make his signing news conference into a televised event. Hes often said that he prefers to keep a close inner circle of friends and family -- his brother, Nick Wiggins, plays just down the road at Wichita State. And he comes off as unfailingly polite and quietly unassuming when a camera is stuck in his face, answering questions directly and succinctly. When asked whether all the expectations might be too much, Wiggins just shakes his head. "Its an experience I can enjoy," he said. "A lot of former players always say that college was their greatest basketball experience, all the fans and going to school and being on campus. Its just a great vibe. Thats what Im looking forward to." Nike Cortez Store . -- Jaye Marie Green shot a 4-under 68 on Thursday to increase her lead to five strokes after the second round of the LPGA Tours qualifying tournament. Air Max 270 Store . -- Linebacker Myles Jack ran for four touchdowns, defensive end Cassius Marsh caught a scoring pass, and No. http://www.cheapestairmaxstore.com/fake-air-max-tn-cheap.html .S. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Majlinda Kelmendi stood on the podium with a wide smile on her face.A gold medal hung around her neck, and not just any gold medal -- the first one ever for Kosovo. Kelmendi went to Rio with Kosovos first Olympic team, and she knew she had to deliver in the womens 52-kg judo competition to make sure her nation didnt go home empty-handed.I was really ready for this competition, Kelmendi said. It was the first time that Kosovo was in the Olympics. I wanted so badly to win. While so much attention is paid to the top of the medals table at the Olympics, where the athletic powerhouses like the United States and China practically need to charter another plane to bring home all the gold, silver and bronze they accumulate, there is an equally spirited competition at the bottom, where dozens of smaller countries hold out hopes of just getting their hands on one.Newspapers back home praised Kelmendis historic achievement Sunday. Hidilyn Diaz, whose weightlifting silver ended a 20-year medal drought for the Philippines, received a personal message of congratulations from President Rodrigo Duterte, who told her she brought honor to the country. They are not global stars on par with Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt. But to the success-starved countries they represent, they may be even more important.Coming into the Rio Games, more than 70 nations with National Olympic Committees had never won a medal of any kind. Others, like India, very rarely reach the podium. So they come to these Olympics with very few chances for glory, their collective focus pinned on one team, or one athlete, to break through.Fiji plays in the rugby semifinals Thursday in a sport that has returned to the Olympics after a 92-year absence. We need pressure. Island life is a nice, chilled and laid-back one so if we take things too easy the boys just drop off, said Fiji rugby coach Ben Ryan, who represents a country that has never won a medal of any color. We are embracing that pressure at the moment. The more the better. This is the strongest 12 Ive ever had. There are absolutely no excuses not too perform. Cheapest Air Max 270. India has won just two medals since 1964, including one for mens field hockey in Moscow in 1980. This years team is looking to restore the countrys standing as one of the worlds elite.Thats my life. Its a dream, captain Sreejesh Parattu said. If you look at the Indian history, it is a very prestigious thing for our country. And when they finally do make it happen, the emotions can be overwhelming. Diaz openly wept after winning the silver medal in the 58kg class of weightlifting. It was the countrys first medal in any sport since the Atlanta Games in 1996 and helped her overcome failures in Beijing and London.I have tried so hard. I have stumbled many times, Diaz said. I wanted to quit, but now all of my sacrifices have paid off.The Associated Press issued predictions prior to the beginning of the games for the medal winners in each competition. The Philippines didnt have an athlete listed, but Diaz came through. In return, shell receive nearly $53,000, per a law enacted in 2001 that rewards successful Olympians.Others predicted to medal win from nations that rarely reach the podium include Ghirmay Ghebreslassie from Eritrea in the mens marathon and Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi in the womens 800 meters. Both nations have just one medal in their histories.Thats the feeling so many others are chasing. They dont have vast financial resources to help pave their ways to gold. They also dont have dozens of other teammates with prime chances for the podium to reduce the pressure. Its all on them to deliver. For me the Olympic Games is all about winning, nothing else, said India mens field hockey coach Roelant Wouter Oltmans. Many years ago someone else said something different, its about participation. But nowadays in the modern Olympic Games its all about winning and thats also why I went to India and accepted the challenge when they offered me to see if there is any possibility to come close to the history of Indian hockey. • Wait theres a title fight this weekend? You wouldnt think so with all talk leading up to UFC on FOX 8 surrounding the potential welterweight title eliminator between Canadian Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger. Adidas Ultra Boost Clearance . Either way, the UFC once again is showcasing a flyweight title fight as it main event on FOX, in an attempt to boost the popularity of the 125-pound division. Jordan is playing the role of T.J. Grant and staying on the sidelines this week, so Ill be riding solo in this preview.  As always you can hit me up on twitter @LynchOnSports if you “Agree” or “Disagree” or leave your opinions in the comments section below. Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga (Flyweight Championship) James Lynch, TSN.ca (@LynchOnSports): The UFC flyweight champion makes the second defense of his title Saturday night as he squares off with the 13-1 powerhouse Moraga. The odds suggest the current 125-pound torchbearer is a considerable favorite, but Id argue this is a much more competitive matchup. The 29-year old Moraga has been stellar in his first two octagon appearances, finishing both Ulysses Gomez and Chris Cariaso.  In fact in his 13-fight career, the former NCAA Division I Wrestler has eight finishes, while Johnson has yet to finish a fight at flyweight. He also holds a three inch reach advantage over Johnson and is arguably the better wrestler. If the Phoenix native is able to control “Mighty Mouse” with his wrestling and neutralize his stand-up, he has a good chance of finishing this fight early. However, if this contest goes into the championship rounds Id favor the current flyweight kingpin. While no doubt Moraga is talented, at the end of the day the AMC fighter is faster and has more tools in his arsenal to win this fight. I see Johnson riding this contest out into the later rounds, out striking his opponent and having his hand raised in grueling contest. Johnson via unanimous decision Rory MacDonald vs. Jake Ellenberger The most competitive matchup on the card serves as the nights co-feature, as these welterweight contenders hope an impressive win leads to an eventual 170-pound title shot. Over the last three years MacDonald has been hailed the future of the welterweight division but has been constantly critiqued for his lack of quality opposition and injury history. If the 24-year old wants to silence his critics, an impressive victory over the IFL veteran would certainly do that. The Nebraska native meanwhile shoulders a similar burden heading into this fight, as past losses to Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann have halted his billing as a title contender. While “The Juggernaut” lives up to his nickname having the superior knockout power in this fight, MacDonald does possess a three and a half inch reach advantage which could be effective in keeping the 28-year old at a distance. Despite a lackluster victory over an undersized B.J. Penn in his last fight, I believe we will see a more evolved “Ares” as he should neutralize Ellenbergers speed and stand-up on route to a unanimous decision victory. MacDonald via unanimous decision Robbie Lawler vs. Bobby Voelker A pair of Strikeforce veterans square off in a pivotal welterweight matchup. Lawler had a successful UFC homecoming in his upset victory over former title challenger Josh Koscheck. The Kansas City native Voelker meanwhile was on the wrong side of a decision against Canadian Patrick Cote in his last fight in which many pundits (including this writer) thought he was robbed. Despite this, “Vicious” has a number of factors working against him heading into this fight. He accepted this bout on just two weeks notice (replacing the injured Siyar Bahardurzada) and has a rather weak resume compared to the former Elite XC middleweight champion. On top of all this, Voelker works full time as a construction worker and attends school, meaning his time for training is far less than that of his opponent. “Ruthless” should be able to use his superior wrestling to control his 34-year old foe and knock him out sometime in the second round. Lawler via second round knockout Liz Carmouche vs. Jessica Andrade Former title challenger Carmouche returns to the UFC as she squares off with the 21-year old Brazilian Andrade, who makes her octagon debut. Despite losing in the first round to Womens champion Ronda Rousey, the former marine did have the champ in danger in the fight early on and that experience will certainly serve her well in this contest. The Brazilian meanwhile replaces Miesha Tate (who replaced Cat Zingano in her title fight versus Rousey) and is considerably smaller than the Strikeforce veteran. Honestly we dont know much about Andrade, other than her fight record is rather lackluster compared to the 29-year old. “Girl-Rilla” should use her size, speed and wrestling to outmuscle the 21-year old, on route to a third round TKO victory. Carmouche via third round TKO Undercard picks: Chiesa, Castillo, Guillard, Cruickshank, Kedzie, Herman, Salas, Albert Also be sure to tune into the “Weigh-In” on TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg every Saturday as myself (@LynchOnSports) and Jordan Cieciwa (@FitCityJordan) go toe to toe in discussing the hottest topics in Mixed Martial Arts. Jordan 1 Wholesale . -- About a third of the way through the regular season, the Washington Wizards are at . Vapormax Mens Sale . The defence is doing its part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees released utilityman Dustin Ackley on Friday and announced that injured pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was designated for assignment.New York also traded left-hander James Pazos to the Seattle Mariners for minor league right-hander Zack Littell.Right-hander Nick Rumbelow and lefty Joe Mantiply were designated for assignment. Right-hander Branden Pinder was sent outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.Ackley, the No. 2 pick in the 2009 amateur draft, batted .148 with no homers and four RBI in 28 games last season. He tore the labrum in his right shoulder May 29 while diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt and needed season-ending surgery.Eovaldi was expected to lose his rosterr spot because the right-hander will be sidelined next year as he recovers from major elbow surgery and can become a free agent following the 2017 season anyway. Adidas Ultra Boost 2020 Cheap. Acquired from the Marlins in a December 2014 trade, Eovaldi was 9-8 with a 4.76 ERA this year. The 25-year-old Pazos was 1-0 with a 13.50 ERA in seven relief appearances covering 3 1/3 innings last season.Littell, 21, went a combined 13-6 with a 2.66 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) with two Class A clubs. He had 156 strikeouts and 34 walks in 165 2/3 innings. The Yankees said Littell will be assigned to Class A Tampa. ' ' '

Hes excited. John Franklin will get a chance to do things, too, but were very excited for Jeremy. Hell be ready to go.Johnson will be making his second appearance at quarterback this season. He was part of a three-quarterback rotation against Clemson in the season opener and finished 4-of-6 for 38 yards with an interception.A former ESPN 300 recruit, Johnson was highly touted going into the 2015 season, but after struggling through the first three games, he was pulled in favor of White.Obviously, its been tough the last two years on him, Malzahn said Tuesday. A group of retired NFL players who opposed the $1 billion concussion settlement between the league and thousands of former players will not appeal the case to the Supreme Court, with former All-Pro?offensive lineman Alan Faneca calling the decision for the greater good of everybody. Its been a long road, and I guess there comes a point in time when you see the end of the road, Faneca, one of the players who challenged the deal, told the New York Post.A federal appeals court upheld the settlement in April, and the deadline for filing an appeal to the Supreme Court was Monday.?Former players already diagnosed with brain injuries linked to repeated concussions can begin receiving benefits within three months, Tom Girardi, who represented the players in the settlement, told the Post. He estimates that between 1,000 and 1,500 players would be eligible for payments now.?Players could receive up to $5 million individually if they were diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrigs disease. The next-highest award is $4 million for families of a player with a post-mortem finding of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, and $3.5 million for players with Parkinsons or Alzheimers.?I think the settlement providees a small window for a large group of guys, Faneca told the Post. Tom Greene Jersey Store. The settlement covers more than 20,000 NFL retirees for the next 65 years. The league estimates that 6,000 former players, or nearly three in 10, could develop Alzheimers disease or moderate dementia.Fewer than 200 of those retirees opted out of the settlement, while 99 percent approved. As part of the settlement, the NFL admitted no fault. A league official speaking to Congress in March acknowledged for the first time a definite link between football and CTE. But the appeals court said that admission was not grounds to overturn the settlement. The league has been dogged for years by complaints that it hid the risks of repeated concussions in order to return players to the field. The deal avoids the need for a trial and means the NFL might never have to disclose what it knew, and when, about the risks and treatment of repeated concussions. Some players who challenged the deal argued that it does not cover mood and behavioral disorders that some researchers link to CTE.?Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.? • EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Jullian Taylor Jersey . -- The Minnesota Vikings released?John Sullivan on Tuesday afternoon, parting ways with the veteran center after Joe Berger beat him out for the starting center job.Sullivan missed the entire 2015 season after two back surgeries, and while the Vikings held a competition for the starting center job between him and Berger -- who started all 16 games in Sullivans absence last season -- Berger appeared to have the job won, when he started the teams third preseason game while Sullivan watched in a baseball cap.The team had been trying to trade Sullivan before Tuesdays initial roster cuts, as USA Today reported on Monday evening, but after the Vikings were unable to find a trade partner, they released the 31-year-old. Sullivan was due to count $5.83 million against the teams salary cap this season, which likely made him more attractive to teams as a possible free agent than as a trade target. Our entire organization appreciates everything that John Sullivan has done for this franchise, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement. Sullivan led our team, not only with how he played the game, but also with how he handled himself in our community. The WICB has granted West Indies allrounder Kieron Pollard a no-objection certificate to participate in South Africas domestic T20 tournament, two days after he had not been given one. WICB chief executive Michael Muirhead said the board had not intended to completely deny the NOC and had apologised for the delay. The WICB, Muirhead said, had been waiting for response from other Full Member boards on the policy of levying a 20% contract fee for any West Indian player who wanted to play in an overseas league. Pollard had signed a two-year contract with Cape Cobras and was scheduled to leave for South Africa on Tuesday. That is what we said in our letter to Mr Pollard, Muirhead told ESPNcricinfo. We apologise for the delay because we usually do it quite quickly, but we were awaiting some response from the cricket boards.Although Muirhead did not mention this, Pollard said on his Twitter account that he was also granted permission to play in Australias Big Bash League. NOC granted for both [SA domestic T20] and big bash! Pollard tweeted late on Tuesday. In the first letter to Pollard, Muirhead said he could not be granted the NOC until the overseas boards responded. This morning we got some responses and wwe have agreed to continue to discussions, he said. Air Force 1 Low Utility Pas Cher. . They are not in total agreement. But in principle they understand that everything is on the table and we now have their attention. We thought prudent hence to grant all NOCs that were pending.Earlier on Tuesday, speaking to Line and Length, a West Indies-based network, Muirhead said WICB never intended to deny Pollard an LOC. It is a dynamic situation. It was very clear in the letter that Kieron got (on November 3). It was not denying him any NOC. It was explaining to him why it was taking a little longer. Normally we would respond and he would have got the NOC within seven days.Muirhead also told the network that that a reason West Indies cricketers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League were given NOCs was because the Bangladesh Cricket Board had responded rather quickly on the release fee concept. It is understood that BCB told WICB they would pay 10% of the players contracted fee in the BPL. It is not clear whether the BCB would make the payment or they would pass the burden on to the players franchise. ' ' '

    • BALTIMORE -- Dylan Bundy wasnt going to go past the seventh inning, no matter what. Replica Nike Air Max 1 .So, quite unintentionally, the rookie gave up a hit to make life easier for manager Buck Showalter.Bundy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for the second game in a row, Pedro Alvarez hit two of Baltimores four solo homers and the Orioles beat the Texas Rangers 5-1 on Tuesday night in a duel between AL division leaders.Making his fourth career start, Bundy allowed one hit and a walk over seven sparkling innings against a potent lineup featuring newcomers Carlos Beltran and Jonathan Lucroy.Bundy (4-3) retired the first 10 batters before issuing a fourth-inning walk to Ian Desmond, who was thrown out trying to steal as Beltran struck out. Elvis Andrus ended the rookies no-hit bid with a clean line drive up the middle with two outs in the sixth. The seventh was his last inning, regardless, Showalter said. That was a pretty good progression for him. He almost got through the sixth inning last time.In his previous outing, Bundy -- the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft -- retired the first 16 batters against Colorado before giving up three runs in the sixth. This time, Bundy capped his outing with a 1-2-3 seventh -- the farthest hes gone in the majors.I knew that was it for him, Showalter said. Usually, people stay away from the pitcher during no-hitters, but all the coaches were staying away from me. They were afraid I was going to ask what they thought.Facing the team with the ALs best record, Bundy struck out seven and didnt allow a runner past first base. What else can the right-hander accomplish?Mainly, just getting deeper in games and getting my arm built up, Bundy said. Still got to go above 90 (pitches).Bundy is not yet a finished product, but hes getting there. He threw the ball really well, Desmond said. Hes stingy. Didnt miss over the plate to me much.Texas closed to 4-1 in the eighth against Brad Brach before Darren ODay struck out Desmond with the bases loaded and two outs. ODay came back in the ninth to earn his third save.It was the second consecutive win for the Orioles following a five-game skid that temporarily dropped them out of first place in the AL East.Bundy outpitched Yu Darvish (2-3), who allowed three homers for only the second time in 90 major league appearances. Alvarez connected in the fifth and seventh innings, and Adam Jones went deep on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth.Darvish was pulled after Alvarezs second homer made it 3-0, and Matt Wieters greeted reliever Dario Alvarez with a shot to right.Facing the Orioles for the first time since taking the loss in the 2012 wild-card game, Darvish gave up three runs and struck out nine in his seventh start this season. He made progress, in my opinion, on how he threw the baseball, how he competed and just how he attacked the strike zone, manager Jeff Banister said. He had to pitch almost flawless with what Bundy was doing. The loss snapped the AL West-leading Rangers four-game winning streak. Playing with Texas for the first time since being obtained Monday in separate trades, Beltran went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and Lucroy was hitless with a walk but scored the Rangers lone run.MILESTONESRangers: Texas run of 14 straight games with a HR ended.Orioles: It was Showalters 518th win as Orioles manager, lifting him out of a tie with Paul Richards and into sole possession of second place on the teams career list. Earl Weaver is the leader with 1,480.TRAINERS ROOMRangers: OF Shin-Soo Choo (lower back inflammation) is getting close to coming off the disabled list, Banister said.UP NEXTRangers: Cole Hamels (12-2, 2.84 ERA) starts the second game of the series Wednesday. Hes 3-0 with an 0.84 ERA since the All-Star break.Orioles: Kevin Gausman (2-8, 4.18) has won only two of 18 starts this season and lost his only career appearance against Texas. Nike Air Max 1 . • On July 5, 2015, ICCs new ODI rules kicked in. Vapormax Flyknit Cheap . The changes were largely to brought in to offer some succor to the bowlers, who, in the words of Dave Richardson, the ICC chief executive, had been on a hiding to nothing with the earlier rules, which allowed only four fielders outside the circle in the last ten, and also had a batting Powerplay which was usually taken between the 36th and the 40th. Under the new rules, the batting Powerplay was done away with, while an extra fielder was allowed outside the circle in the last ten. Also, there was no compulsion to have two catching fielders within the first ten.Since those rules kicked in, 113 ODIs have been played, which is a reasonable number to check whether those new rules have had the desired effect on the scoring rates and helped bowlers a little bit. The most recent evidence would suggest not, given that England made the highest ODI total a couple of days back at Trent Bridge against Pakistan, but a longer term view suggests little difference in the overall numbers. In its latest avatar, the average ODI has witnessed a run rate of 5.33, which is almost exactly the same as the rate when the earlier rules were in force between October 30, 2012 and July 4, 2015. The scoring rate increased dramatically in the first six months of 2015, rising to 5.67 from 5.29 in 2014. Those six months included the 2015 World Cup, where the scoring rate was 5.65, and the New Zealand tour to England, where the rate across five matches was an astronomical 7.15. Between October 30, 2012 and December 2014, the overall run rate was only 5.25. When splitting the numbers by teams batting first and second, the distribution is very even over the last 14 months. The teams batting first and chasing have won exactly 54 games each, while the run rates arent very different either. The numbers are quite similar to those between January 2014 and July 4, 2015. The bigger difference, as expected, has been in the last 15 overs. With teams usually opting for the batting Powerplay between the 36th and the 40th, and only four fielders allowed outside the circle in the last ten, the last 15 overs had earlier given the batting teams the licence to hit out freely, knowing that there was minimal risk of being caught at the boundary. However, with the batting Powerplay being scrapped and an extra fielder allowed on the boundary in the last ten, the run rates and the boundary-hitting frequency has dropped significantly.Since July 2015, the run rate for teams batting first in the last 15 overs has dropped to 6.95 from 7.81 in the earlier period. The balls per boundary has gone up from 6.7 to 8.7, a change of nearly 30%. With more fielders on the boundary, batsmen have had a few more opportunities to take twos, but overall the run rates and boundaries have reduced in the slog overs and bowlers have had more opportunities to have some control on the game. The difference in the second innings isnt so significant, though. With a specific target to chase, teams werent so aggressive in the last 15 even when the field restrictions were in place. The earlier fielding restrictions were tough on bowlers when opposition teams had wickets in hand. When teams batting first had gone into the last ten overs with five or more wickets in hand, they scored at 9.62 per over and averaged 56.81 runs per dismissal. In the last 14 months, those numbers have dropped to 8.78 and 43.58. In the first 35, the rate has gone up marginally - from 4.72 to 4.83 - but it is in the last 15 that bowling captains will feel they have more protection and a better chance to somewhat control proceedings, thanks to the extra fielder available in the outfield. When England go the way they did at Trent Bridge, though, even that extra fielder makes absolutely no difference.****Englands resurgence in ODIs over the last year has been written about before in much detail, but they have been so good recently that it deserves another mention. The 444 at Trent Bridge further underscores their transformation from the team that was such a dismal failure in the 2015 World Cup. Since that tournament, they have scored 350 or more six times in 28 innings (including two washouts), and have six other scores between 300 and 349. In 644 previous ODIs, they only had only two scores in excess of 350.A comparison between their numbers over the last year, and those between January 2014 and March 2015, shows outstanding improvements in all aspects, but especially in terms of power-hitting. In the period between January 2014 and March 2015, England scored a boundary (four or a six) every 12 balls and scored 40% of their runs in boundaries. They averaged 75 balls per six, which works out to four per 50 overs.Since the World Cup debacle, the batting line-up has transformed, and so has the boundary-hitting ability. Their balls per boundary has dropped to eight, percentage of runs in boundaries has risen to 49, and the balls per six has dropped to 46. All of those factors have contributed towards a run rate of 6.39, and a win-loss of 16-9, from a miserable 13-23 in the earlier period. With the batting firepower that they command at the moment, they would have to be favourites for the Champions Trophy that they will be hosting next year.* Percentage of total runs in boundaries^ Balls per boundary (4 or 6) Vapormax Plus Black Cheap . • The European Tour and Asian Tour have formalised a strategic alliance after protracted merger talks failed. Steve Bono Jersey .A significant exchange of playing opportunities has been promised but both organisations -- working from a joint office in Singapore -- will retain brand and logo identities and continue to be managed by separate boards.European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley said in a statement on Monday: Following successful discussions over the past year to develop our joint vision, we are delighted to announce this Strategic Alliance which we believe will be of immense benefit to both organisations. We have enjoyed a very strong and prosperous relationship with the Asian Tour over the past 17 years and this formalises that partnership, representing an exciting new era in our association.Ryder Cup vice-captain Thomas Bjorn, chairman of the European Tours tournament committee, had described a merger as the only way forward, but some Asian players opposed the move amid fears of a reduction in their playing opportunities.Speaking last May, commissioner Kyi Hla Han said the Asian Tour would have disappeared in the merger, and he welcomed the diluted partnership approach on Monday.Han said: This is a very positive step forward in our desire to further grow professional golf in Asia and around the world. We believe it will also greatly enhance the careers of our membership, who have embraced this exciting development. We are also confident a greater collaboration between the Asian Tour and European Tour will deliver a stronger product to our partners and appeal to new sponsors to get involved with the game. Not even a defeat could stop Daniel Hourcade from taking pleasure in his surroundings. The head coach of Argentinas rugby team expressed a good many regrets at the end of a 33-21 loss to Australia this month, from his teams failure to capitalize on key opportunities to a shortage of contested scrums. But the decision to give up home-field advantage and stage this game in England was not among them.It was a great experience. Playing here at Twickenham [Stadium] is really an honor, said Hourcade. He went on to describe the venue as the cathedral of rugby.Time will tell whether Twickenham can make a similar impression on Jeff Fisher. The Los Angeles Rams head coach could be forgiven for feeling unenthusiastic about surrendering one of his teams home games to host the New York Giants in London at a potentially pivotal moment in the NFL season.Fisher took the Rams across the pond once before, in 2012. They were shellacked 45-7 by the New England Patriots in what remains the most lopsided NFL International Series result. That game, though, was held at Wembley Stadium. Sunday will mark the NFLs first visit to Twickenham. This change of setting might not mean much to Fisher, whose only focus right now will be on picking his team up after consecutive defeats. The rest of us, though, might find intrigue in the prospect of an American football game being staged at the spiritual home of English rugby.Humble beginningsThere was a time when people might have scoffed at the suggestion that Twickenham should host any sport other than rugby. Then again, there was a time when people scoffed at the suggestion that it could host any sporting event at all.The decision by Englands fledgling Rugby Football Union to invest almost ï¿¡5,600 on a 10?-acre parcel of land on the southwest outskirts of London back in 1907 was greeted with incredulity by the national press. For journalists who lived and worked in the city center, Twickenham might as well have been Timbuktu -- 12 or so miles from Piccadilly Circus and with poor transport links. This was not prime real estate but farming land -- previously in use as a mix of orchards and market gardens. Worse, it was located in a flood plain. The RFU had to arrange for the field to be raised using dirt excavated during the creation of the London Undergrounds Metropolitan line. The venue was quickly nicknamed Billy Williams Cabbage Patch -- a jab at the RFU committee member who had proposed the site. More pointed words were chosen by the Daily Mirror newspaper, which characterized the whole project as a costly white elephant.Twickenham would defy such dire assessments. Despite occasional flirtations with different venues, England Rugby has never left. Instead, the stadium has gradually expanded -- with stands rebuilt on the same site several times over -- from a capacity of 18,000 at its first international game through to 82,000 today (although various NFL-specific modifications will reduce this to 75,000 on Sunday). As it has grown, the stadium has been modernized. It now incorporates a fitness center and a Marriott hotel, with suites looking out over the field. But this is not a place that has lost touch with its history. The east stand is home to the World Rugby Museum, where Phil McGowan, who authored a history of the stadium in 2014, works as the interpretation and education officer. McGowan is quick to point out that at least one part of Twickenham remains forever unchanged. The pitch is still in the exact same place as it was in 1909, McGowan said. The grass itself has been relaid many times over, and in 2012, it was upgraded with a partially artificial base that helps to keep the playing surface in better condition. Otherwise, McGowan said, Its still exactly the same height. When theres a game, theyre still playing on top of the old dirt dug out from the Metropolitan line. That field has been the stage for iconic rugby games, from Englands win over Wales in Twickenhams first full international game, in 1910, right through to World Cup games in 1991, 1999 and 2015. And yet some of the most important chapters in its history have nothing to do with rugby. During World War I, Twickenham was used by the British army to graze and train horses before they were sent out to the front. Then, during the second world war, the whole stadium was given over to the war office, and it became a civil service depot, McGowan said. The West Car Park was turned into a coal dump. The fire brigade took over the south terrace and put all their vehicles underneath, which were then used during the Blitz. The west stand was turned into a medical response center, so there were lots of hospital beds put there, to be used in the event of a chemical attack in London.Only the RFU secretary remained in his office, which he kept to himself. After the war had finished, there are photos with the roofs of the stands covered in holes from shrapnel damage during the Blitz. That was the case for 20, 30 years after -- you could see these patched-up holes in the roof of the stands.Bathing in a century of historyThe Rams and Giants are not in London for a history lesson. It seems unlikely that players will use what little free time they do have to visit the World Rugby Museum. But they will get at leasst a flavor of what makes this place unique as they make their way into the stadium. Aaron Hernandez Jersey. On the drive in, team buses are routed through the West Car Park. This is the spot where fans gather before games to eat and drink before kickoff. If that sounds like a familiar ritual to any NFL fan, then the devil is in the detail. Rugby union, in part because of its long-standing commitment to amateurism that lasted right up until the mid-1990s -- with the effect that only those with money could afford to give up the time required to compete at a high level -- has historically drawn a well-heeled crowd. Instead of beer and brats, the West Car Park was famous for champagne and caviar.I mean, its tailgating in the States, isnt it? Martin Johnson, a former World Cup-winning captain for England, said with a chuckle. But its having a spot of lunch in the West Car Park at Twickenham. The scene has become less genteel in recent years, with food concessions and beer tents encroaching into areas where parking is no longer permitted. It might look different this Sunday, in any case, with the NFL using that area for its own official tailgate.Once inside the stadium, though, players will walk down a tunnel adorned with great names and games from English rugby history. Inside the home locker room, cubicles are adorned with the names of the countrys most capped players at each position. An adjoining corridor carries the list of every player who ever represented England.More vivid than any of these things might be the two standalone iron baths positioned beside the new hydrotherapy baths in the home locker room. First purchased back as part of a set of six in 1931, these were for many decades the primary means of players getting clean after a game. They would be half-filled with cold water before kickoff, then topped up with hot at full-time.For a lot of the boys, that used to be part of the fun after a game, Johnson said. Just to sit in there and soak it all up. When they rebuilt the west stand in the 1990s, we didnt know if they would keep them. While they were doing it, [then England prop] Jason Leonard tried to walk off with one. He drove up with his van and tried to take one away. But they caught him in the act.Anyway, when they rebuilt the stand, they did put a couple of them back in there. But now theyve started filling the baths with ice instead of warm water, so its not quite so good!A surprising hymnSundays game will be preceded, as with every other NFL International Series game in London, with the singing of both the American and British national anthems. But perhaps the most fascinating question before this game at Twickenham is whether there will be enough rugby fans in the crowd to follow that up with another song that has become a part of the lore of this place.A rendition of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,?the spiritual originally sung by slaves in the U.S. in the 19th century,?became the unofficial anthem of English rugby more than a century later.Precisely how that happened is a matter of dispute. The most popular story has it that the song was first introduced to Twickenham by a group of schoolboys celebrating a virtuoso performance by Chris Oti, Englands first black player in more than 80 years, against Ireland in 1988.Whatever the truth of that account, however, it is known that Swing Low, Sweet Chariot had been sung in English rugby clubhouses for years before it became associated with the national team. Johnson recalls it being popular when he was playing as teenager in the 1980s.Ill be frank, when most teams used to do it, that used to involve taking their clothes off, as well, he said. That was part of it. It was with a few pints, and half the time half the team would be naked by the end.Stripping in the stands at Twickenham is generally frowned upon -- even if one exhibit in the World Rugby Museum does claim that this stadium was the setting for the first streaker at a professional sporting event. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, however, has persisted to this day.Ive been lucky enough to play for England against New Zealand at Twickenham, said Northampton back Ben Foden. Obviously, they have the Haka [New Zealands pregame war dance], which is something thats steeped in tradition, as well. But when they do that at Twickenham, our fans always sing Swing Low, Sweet Chariot at the top of their lungs to drown it out. Its pretty special. You really notice the crowd and the impact they can have on a game. When planning out Twickenhams latest major redesign, in 1988, architect Terry Ward stated his intention to create a stadium for England that would give them a five-point advantage in every home game. Whether he succeeded on that front is difficult to quantify, but certainly he created a venue that can get deafeningly loud at times. That much will be nothing new to NFL players. But a round of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot would certainly feel unique. English fans serenaded Argentina and Australia with the song during that game earlier this month at Twickenham. What sort of cathedral, after all, would let a new congregation leave without hearing its most stirring hymn? ' ' '

    • This story appears in ESPN College Football 2016, on newsstands now. Fake Vapormax . Order online today!Leonard Fournette?and?Myles Garrett?dont need to fend off any preseason challengers. But not everybody has the same job security as Fournette, LSUs star running back, and Texas A&Ms all-world pass-rusher, Garrett.Heres the biggest position battle for all 14 SEC teams, presented in order of projected finish.East DivisionTennessee Volunteers: Left tackle?Longtime starter Kyler Kerbyson is gone, and RT Chance Hall missed the spring with an injury, so Brett Kendrick shifted to his spot. That leaves redshirt freshman Drew Richmond to battle senior Dontavius Blair on the left. Richmond could be the future at this position, but hell have to adjust after moving from the right side.Georgia Bulldogs: Quarterback?Pick your poison, Georgia. Graduate transfer and returning starter Greyson Lambert struggled deep into SEC play, averaging just 164.3 pass yards per game. Junior Brice Ramsey, the early 2015 favorite, punted almost as much as he threw last season. True freshman Jacob Eason, the top-ranked prep QB in 2016, is clearly the future of the position but has yet to take a collegiate snap. Although Eason boasts the purest talent of the trio, the Bulldogs staff has said it wants to bring him along carefully. So many options ... so little clarity.Florida Gators: Quarterback? There will be pressure until a Gators QB finally proves he can consistently throw against SEC opponents. Former starter Treon Harris moved to receiver, then was suspended in the spring, so Luke Del Rio, who walked on last year, is the favorite. Still, Del Rio failed to establish himself in stints at Alabama and Oregon State, which leaves room for Purdue graduate transfer Austin Appleby and true freshmen Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask to enter the race.South Carolina Gamecocks: Quarterback?New OC Kurt Roper wants to run an up-tempo spread, so mobility under center will be critical. While a trio of QBs who logged starts in 2015 return (Perry Orth, Lorenzo Nunez, Connor Mitch), true freshman and 2016 ESPN 300 dual-threat Brandon McIlwain may be best suited to run Ropers O in the long run.Missouri Tigers: Offensive line?New faces, redshirts and backups abound. Down four starters with nearly 130 career starts, the O-line returns only a couple of semi-familiar names in Nate Crawford and Alec Abeln, who combined for 11 starts last season. Both tackles will start from scratch, while a couple of sophomores, OT Paul Adams and G Kevin Pendleton, got some work toward the end of the season and could man the right side.Kentucky Wildcats: Linebacker? The Wildcats lose six of their top seven tacklers from 2015, including, most critically, LB Josh Forrest. The unit was dealt an additional blow with the offseason dismissal of Jason Hatcher (marijuana trafficking), so Kentucky will depend on a pair of Big Ten transfers -- Courtney Love from Nebraska and DeNiro Laster from Minnesota -- to fill the hole in the defenses depleted middle.Vanderbilt Commodores: Safety?Derek Masons D relies heavily on its safeties ability to play both in the back end and in the box. With Andrew Williamson gone, junior Oren Burks needs help at the other spot. Theres depth (Ryan White, Emmanuel Smith and Arnold Tarpley return), and frosh Joejuan Williams, Vandys lone 2016 ESPN 300 prep, enrolled early and will vie for playing time from Day 1.West DivisionLSU Tigers: Quarterback? For the third time in as many years, Brandon Harris will compete for QB1. (He served as backup in 2014 before being named starter last season.) Harris, a junior, had a solid first half in 2015, playing to a 78.2 QBR through Week 7, only to throw three TDs and five picks in November. The dual-threat QB will face off against a dropback passer, Purdue transfer Danny Etling, to try to kick-start an aerial attack that ranked No. 105 in the FBS (180.4 yards per game).Alabama Crimson Tide: Quarterback?Count the Tide as yet another SEC team with a question mark at QB. Junior Cooper Bateman lost the starting job to Jake Coker last season, and this year, Bateman must fend off redshirt freshman Blake Barnett and sophomore David Cornwell for the gig. No matter which pro-style passer gets tabbed, hell be Lane Kiffins third straight first-time starter in Tuscaloosa.Ole Miss Rebels: Offensive line? All five starters who lined up in the trenches for the Rebels Sugar Bowl victory in January are gone. The arrival of five-star signee OT Gregory Little, the second-ranked prep in the 2016 ESPN 300, certainly helps, but potential starters Rod Taylor and Robert Conyers are the only Ole Miss veterans along the O-line (12 combined career starts). A handful of other linemen (Javon Patterson, Jordan Sims, Sean Rawlings) have some starting reps, but the front line is in major rebuilding mode.Texas A&M Aggies: Running back? The quarterback saga in College Station is compelling, and certainly critical, but finding Tra Carsons heir apparent at running back will also be vital this fall. Carson was the first 1,000-yard rusher in the Sumlin era, and though the Aggies have a host of backfield options, the units leading veteran is now junior James White, who ran for just 196 yards last season. Look for Oklahoma transfer Keith Ford and three other backs to push for touches.Mississippi State Bulldogs: Quarterback?Dak Prescott owns every Mississippi State career passing record, so good luck to his successor. In the spring, Mullen rotated four QBs with the first team, all of whom are promising, if inexperienced. Sophomore Nick Fitzgerald went 11-of-14 for 235 yards and three TDs in eight games last season. Damian Williams and Elijah Staley: 75 career attempts combined. Nick Tiano? Freshman. As Mullen said, this ones wide open.Auburn Tigers: Quarterback?Jeremy Johnson earned preseason Heisman chatter in 2015 -- then tossed six INTs in the Tigers first three games. Sean White took over and wasnt much better, throwing for one TD in seven outings. The two are in the mix for starter again, with juco transfer John Franklin III as a dual-threat option.Arkansas Razorbacks: Offensive line?Former starting quarterback Brandon Allens younger brother, Austin, will inherit the QB reins, but the question now is who will protect him. RT Dan Skipper and C Frank Ragnow return, but the Hogs are otherwise inexperienced. Among potential starters: redshirt freshman Colton Jackson and converted defensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt. Cheapest Air Max 90 Store . -- Gus Malzahn finally had his day in Fayetteville. Best Cheapest Jordan 1 . LAS VEGAS -- NASCAR announced an agreement with Monster Energy on Thursday that makes the energy drink maker the title sponsor of its top series in 2017, ending a lengthy process of finding a replacement for Sprint.NASCAR Chairman Brian France declined to provide financial details or the length of the deal, saying it was a complicated agreement that includes option years. It was believed to be for less money than Sprints multimillion-dollar sponsorship. Its a different kind of agreement, for sure, in that is has activation in different ways and media in different ways, France said at a news conference with the NASCAR and Monster logos serving as a backdrop. But were quite pleased with the agreement and there will be no changes at all (to operations budgets). In fact, I think youll see some additional activation and additional things that will occur.France indicated theyre still in discussions with Corona, California-based Monster Beverage Corporation on the exact name of the 2017 Cup series.Cellular company Sprints 13-year run as title sponsor ended last month, when Jimmie Johnson captured his record-tying seventh series title in the season finale at Homestead.NASCAR had hoped to have a new sponsor in place by early fall. The delay had produced uncertainty for a sport that has suffered attendance and television ratings declines in recent years.Im so excited for it, said Joey Logano, who finished second behind Johnson and watched the news conference with several other drivers in a Las Vegas Strip hotel ballroom. Im sure it will be a great partner for our sport. Sprint has been unbelievable through my career. The lack of a deal led NASCAR to announce details of its 2017 season-opening non-points race at Daytona without a sponsor, something Sprint had handled in the past. Monster Energy will sponsor NASCARs All-Star race, which Sprint had done.Steve Phelps, NASCARs global marketing officer, said they talked with hundreds of brands about the sponsorship deal, finalizing it a day before NASCARs season-ending banquet at the Wynn Las Vegas.I know the industry was starting to get a little bit nervous about the timing of this. But the timing is actually perfect, Phelps said. We didnt step on our championship and what happened in crowning a seven-time champion. We didnt step on our existing partner, and wee were very, very patient to find the right partner. Cheapest Yeezy 350 V3. Monsters caffeine-filled energy drinks, known for its green clawed-M logo, are targeted to young consumers and NASCAR has stressed the importance of finding younger fans.We do have some ideas about how we can make NASCAR more attractive to what I would call a different audience, said Mark Hall, Monsters chief marketing officer.Monster Energy was already involved in NASCAR, serving as primary sponsor of Kurt Buschs No. 41 Cup car at Stewart-Haas Racing. It has also sponsored Kyle Busch in the Xfinity Series.Kurt Busch said his individual sponsorship deal and long-term personal services contract with Monster will continue. It wont affect our situation, Busch said. Theyve been very happy with what weve done together.Monster created additional publicity this week with its logo splashed on Tiger Woods golf bag as he makes his return from injury in a tournament in the Bahamas. It has also been a sponsor in motocross and Formula One.Monster Beverage announced last month that third quarter net sales increased 4.1 percent to $788 million from the same period a year ago. It announced a strategic partnership in 2015 that gave the Coca-Cola Company a 16.7 percent stake in Monster. The two companies share distribution networks.Monster takes over for Sprint, which inherited the NASCAR deal when it merged with Nextel in 2008. Sprint announced in December 2014 that it would not extend the deal.Nextel has replaced cigarette maker R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., which had sponsored NASCARs top circuit since 1971 under its Winston brand. That deal ended in 2003 in part because of the tobacco settlement with the federal government that reduced the industrys ability to advertise.Thursdays announcement gives NASCAR and Monster a little more than two months to prepare for the start of 2017 season, which begins with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 26. Previous title sponsors have spent tens of millions of dollars promoting the sport. They understand motorsports. They understand NASCAR, France said of Monster. They understand how to reach across and excite our core audience and help us deliver on a new audience. That was very exciting for us. ' ' '

    • HOUSTON -- With the Utah Jazz attempting a late comeback, James Harden casually tossed an alley-oop to Clint Capela from just inside the halfcourt line for a thunderous dunk. Yeezy 500 Utility Black For Sale .Harden had 31 points and 10 assists, and Capela scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 111-102 victory over the Jazz on Saturday.I knew where he was going to be, Harden said of the pass. Thats the kind of chemistry were trying to build, to knowing where guys are going to be at so everything works easy and its fluent.Eric Gordon added 20 points and fellow reserve Nene added a season-high 16 as the Rockets won for the third time in their last four games and improved to 4-1 at home.Rockets coach Mike DAntoni said Capela is growing more comfortable and confident on the floor every game.He had a monster game, and I dont think he did anything that he cant keep repeating, DAntoni said. As long as he runs the floor and screens and rolls, we have guys that will find him.The injury-plagued Jazz dropped their third straight game following a 6-2 start to November. Besides Gordon Hayward, the four other Jazz starters had a combined seven years of NBA experience.Rodney Hood led Utah with 25 points and Trey Lyles had 21. Rudy Gobert added 12 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.Harden shook defender Dante Exum and buried a 3-pointer with less than a minute remaining to give Houston an 11-point lead and put away the game for good.Jazz coach Quin Snyder said Harden is doing everything, and seems to be a great match with DAntoni.Clearly, he has taken it upon himself to help them execute the way coach DAntoni wants, Snyder said. They are very, very good. The Rockets took advantage of Utahs smaller lineup by outscoring Utah 52-46 in the paint and shying away from the 3-point line a little more than usual. Houston entered the game leading the league with 13.7 3-pointers made and 36.5 3-pointers attempted per game (37.4 percent), but made 12 of 32 against Utah.I think we were flat on both ends in the first half, Gobert said. We did not attack them on the offensive end and had too many mistakes on the defensive end.Houston led 55-44 at the half and maintained the 11-point lead through the third quarter, entering the fourth with an 81-70 lead.TIP-INSJazz: Lyles started in place of veteran Boris Diaw (rest) ahead of the teams trip to Denver on Sunday, Utahs fourth back-to-back of the season. ... Gobert, 24, is two years older than Capela, 22, who got a late start at the sport. The two conversed in French throughout Saturdays game, with Gobert even sending Capela a friendly warning at one point. He told me to never try to dunk on him again, Capela said with a grin. I just told him, `Next time I go to dunk, just get out of the way.MAD MAXAs part of the ongoing celebration of the franchises 50th season, the Rockets honored former shooting guard Vernon Maxwell after the third quarter with a video tribute. Maxwell, who played on both of Houstons championship seasons in 1993-94 and 1994-95, was given a standing ovation following the video.ZERO TURNOVERSHarden became the first Rockets player since Sleepy Floyd in Orlando on April 8, 1990, to have at least 30 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers. Darnolds lofted pass over linebacker D.J. Beavers and into the arms of tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe for an 8-yard touchdown strike in the opening moments of the fourth quarter gave USC an 11-point lead that Washington (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12, No. 4 CFP) couldnt overcome. To play that game, at this age, in that atmosphere? Unbelievable, USC coach Clay Helton said.Ronald Jones II added 93 yards rushing and a touchdown. USC (7-3, 6-2, No. 20 CFP) won its sixth straight and should get back into the AP Top 25 while keeping alive its hopes of winning the Pac-12 South.Washington coach Chris Petersen cautioned all week that USC was back to looking like the most talented team in the Pac-12 and he was proved correct. Darnold flustered Washingtons defense by keeping plays alive with his feet and found gaps in the Huskies secondary that have been difficult for others to find.If guys are looking down the horizon, youre going to get hit right between the eyes, Petersen said. Theres too many good players and coaches in this league. ... I think we played a good team tonight.Darreus Rogers had six catches for 84 yards and a touchdown, while Imatorbhebhe added five catches for 78 yards. Washington lost starting middle linebacker Azeem Victor in the second quarter to a lower right leg injury that required an air cast and a cart to take the Huskies leading tackler off the field. His absence was felt in the pass game where USC exploited the middle of the field. When you have great players in front of you ... its your job to get them the ball and find the open guy. I thought I did that pretty well tonight, Darnold said.Washington quarterback Jake Browning was 17 of 36 for 259 yards, including a 70-yard TD pass to John Ross where he shook Jackson at the line of scrimmage. Ross finished with eight catches for 154 yards, but the Huskies were held to 17 yards rushing after coming into the week as the Pac-12 leader averaging 231 yards per game.Herees where we find out if were the front-runners that are only playing well when things are going well or are we going to respond and bounce back stronger? Browning said. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Cheap. That will be interesting to see what kind of team are we.When USC went ahead 10-3 on Rogers 13-yard TD catch it was the first time Washington trailed at home since the first quarter of last Novembers Apple Cup against Washington State. The 17-6 halftime lead for the Trojans marked Washingtons first halftime deficit in more than a calendar year. The Huskies last trailed at the break on Nov. 7, 2015, against Utah, a game they lost 34-23.It was the drive just before halftime that put USC in control. Taking over at the 18 with 2:27 left in the half, Darnold completed 4 of 7 passes for 75 yards and capped the drive with Jones 4-yard TD run and an 11-point lead at the break.USC also got a huge play from Jack Jones in the third quarter blocking Cameron Van Winkles 38-yard field goal attempt after Darnold was intercepted for a second time by Washingtons Taylor Rapp.POLL IMPLICATIONSWelcome back to the AP Top 25 , USC. The Trojans were the first team outside the Top 25 last week but certainly will make a significant leap after the impressive win. With rest of the chaos this week, perhaps USC will crack the top 20.The chaos in the top 10 may help Washington also. The Huskies may not be penalized as much because of other top 10 teams losing.THE TAKEAWAYUSC: Jackson didnt have the best night, especially when he was matched up in coverage on Ross. But he came up with two key interceptions, both times using his quickness to break in front of the receivers and grab Brownings pass.Washington: The big plays that have been part of Washingtons success all season were absent. Washington had just three plays of longer than 20 yards: Two by Ross and a 28-yard pass to Chico McClatcher.INJURY REPORTPetersen did not have much of an update after the game on Victors injury. Its another blow to Washingtons defense that is likely to be without defensive end and sack leader Joe Mathis for the rest of the season due to foot surgery.UP NEXTUSC: The Trojans travel across town next Saturday to face rival UCLA at the Rose Bowl.Washington: The Huskies close out their home schedule hosting Arizona State.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-Top25 ' ' '

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville trustees on Wednesday accepted the resignation of embattled President James Ramsey, whose long tenure was dogged by scandal. The action at a special meeting of the schools board signaled the end of an era. Ramsey, a former state budget director, has led the university for 14 years. After six hours of closed-door deliberations, the board announced late Wednesday that Ramsey will be paid $690,000 and will resign immediately, with an agreement not to sue the school.Ramsey was credited with raising academic standards and boosting the school from a commuter campus to a distinguished research institution. But he came under increasing fire for embezzlement scandals and a string of other embarrassments, including an FBI investigation of top university officials for alleged misuse of federal money and an NCAA investigation into whether a university employee paid women to strip and have sex with basketball players. The controversies boiled over in the past two years. The Courier-Journal reported last year that the board of trustees challenged Ramseys salary of more than $600,000, with millions more in deferred compensation paid by the university foundation. Then, in October, an escort named Katina Powell released the book Breaking Cardinal Rules, which alleged a basketball team employee hired her and other dancers to entertain players and recruits at sex parties at the mens basketball players dorm. The NCAA launched an investigation, and Ramsey announced in February that the team would not play in postseason tournaments.Dozens of professors signed a letter to him complaining about the drumbeat of crises and some trustees attempted a no-confidence vote to have him ousted in the spring. Ramsey said at the time that he would not resign. But Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin dismantled the former board of trustees last month. Ramsey wrote the governor a letter offering to tender his resignation to the newly appointed board, launching a bumpy series of meetings that led to his eventual ouster late Wednesday. The afternoon began with an agreement seemingly far more generous for Ramsey: He would collect his salary for a year as he served as interim president while the school searched for a new leader. Ramsey sat silently at Wednesdays board meeting, then left for his office upstairs. But the boards closed-door negotiations stretched hours into the night. Chairman Pro Tem Ulysses Junior Bridgeman left several times to visit Ramseys office, where the president was working with various advisers, he said. The board announced just before 11 p.m. that Ramsey would be out immediatelly. Priest Holmes Jersey. . University Provost Neville Pinto, who is on vacation, will serve as temporary leader until a new president is selected. In the end, it was just the decision on both sides, what everyone thought was best, Bridgeman said of the final resolution. He said it was a sad moment in the universitys history despite the controversies that have colored Ramseys tenure. He pointed to the presidents accomplishments, improving graduation rates and the universitys footprint in the city.Dr. Ramsey is always going to be a gentleman, he said about Ramseys reaction to the final decision. Hes always going to talk about whats best for the university. And that was the discussion. It wasnt any more than that. The boards actions will have no bearing on Ramseys status with the University Foundation, a separate board where Ramsey is paid more than $300,000 in addition to his salary as president. Bridgeman would not speculate on what that board will choose to do about his employment. The trustees also voted to immediately begin its search for a new president. The decision ends weeks of unrest and confusion about Ramseys status.Shortly after Bevin dismantled the old board and appointed new members, Ramsey read his letter offering to resign as the board met in a private session at its first meeting earlier this month. Ramsey then left the meeting, walked directly to his office and didnt return. His method apparently left trustees confused. Bridgeman told reporters that Ramsey had not offered his resignation. A day later, Bridgeman said Ramseys letter had amounted to an offer to step down. Trustees met for a second time last week, reviewing budget and tuition issues but taking no action on Ramseys status. They scheduled a meeting to discuss his resignation for Tuesday morning, abruptly canceled it, then rescheduled it for Wednesday afternoon. Now, even with Ramseys immediate departure, the schools leadership remains uncertain.Democratic state Attorney General Andy Beshear is challenging Bevins authority to disband the schools former board and appoint a new one, saying the reorganization was illegal.During a hearing last week, Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd said Bevins action replacing Louisvilles board was problematic, because it put the schools independence in jeopardy. His ruling is pending. If Shepherd rules against Bevin and finds the current board invalid, its unclear whether the boards decisions will stand, including Wednesdays negotiations over Ramseys departure. ' ' '

    • SAN FRANCISCO -- Bring on the lightweights. Bruce Sutter .That is the new battle cry of the staggering San Francisco Giants, who completed the heavyweight division of their schedule with a one mighty punch Thursday night, salvaging one of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers on newcomer Matt Moores one-hitter.The Giants (69-58) flew out of Los Angeles early Friday morning trailing the Dodgers (71-56) by two games in the National League West. The good news is, despite having gone a major-league-worst 12-25 since the All-Star break, they still have a three-game cushion over the Miami Marlins (66-61) in the race to earn one of two NL wild cards. And the best news of all is: Twenty-one of their last 35 games are against the Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies. The stretch breeze begins with a five-game homestand against the Braves (three games) and Diamondbacks (two).Moore will pitch the fifth of the five games next Wednesday, and he hopes his effort in Los Angeles can trigger a turnaround that has him trying to extend a winning streak by then.Today was fun, he said after his masterpiece Thursday. Hopefully, moving forward, we can build off this. The Thursday victory ended a brutal stretch in which the Giants played 19 consecutive games against playoff contenders -- four against the New York Mets, and three against the Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Marlins and Washington Nationals. The Giants went 7-12 in those games, taking them from a two-game lead in the West to their current two-game deficit. So, bring on the Braves, who have the third-worst record in the NL (16-23) since the All-Star break, and then the Diamondbacks (15-23), who have the second-worst mark in that span. The Giants will open the Atlanta series with right-hander Jeff Samardzija (10-9, 4.17 ERA) on the mound. He is coming off one of his best games of the season, a 2-0 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday in which he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning for the first time in his career. That night, he was up against Mets ace Noah Syndergaard. On Friday, he will see Braves rookie right-hander Joel De La Cruz, who is still looking for his first major league win. De La Cruz is 0-6 with a 4.47 ERA in 14 games (seven starts).De La Cruzs last effort was his worst, as he was roughed up for seven hits and six runs in 5 2/3 innings during a no-decision against the Nationals.Samardzija is 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 11 career appearances (five starts) against the Braves. He took the loss in a 5-3 defeat in Atlanta on May 30, allowing four earned runs in five innings.De La Cruz, who made his debut for the Braves on June 29, has never faced the Giants. The Braves are coming off a 2-2 split in their four-game series at Arizona. That constitutes a hot streak for a club that had lost seven of its previous eight. However, Atlanta might have to open the San Francisco series without its best hitter, as first baseman Freddie Freeman took a hard fall chasing a foul pop up in the Thursday win.Im just glad I didnt hit my head, Freeman said. Im going to be pretty sore (Friday). Bobby Tolan . • SYDNEY -- Jordan Spieth believes his victory at the Australian Open on Sunday will do wonders for his career, just as it did when he won the tournament for the first time in 2014. Don Shy .Spieth sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat local hopes Cameron Smith and Ashley Hall at Royal Sydney.Former top-ranked Spieth forced the three-way playoff after sinking another clutch par putt on the 18th hole for a 3-under 69. He joined Smith (66) and Hall (66) at 12-under 276 after 72 holes. For Spieth, it was more than winning the tournament for a second time. The way we played the playoff, I think is going to do wonders for me, Spieth said. Ive been in a little bit of stall hitting shots when they mattered ... To hit those two shots in there, right where I wanted to hit them and then make the putt is really big going forward. The American added his name to an elite list of multiple winners at the Australian Open, including Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Greg Norman. Spieth improved his record to two wins and a runner-up finish in 2015 from three appearances at the Australian Open.Four players held the lead at various times on a dramatic final day, including Spieth, who.On the playoff hole -- the 18th -- Spieth put his approach to within 10 feet before Hall stepped up the pressure by knocking his to less than 8 feet. The 23-year-old Spieth then showed the composure that won him the Masters and U.S. Open titles last year when he calmly sank his putt while Hall pushed his birdie attempt right of the cup.Smith and Hall had some consolation as they secured starts at next years British Open at Royal Birkdale, as did two-time Australian Open champion Aaron Baddeley, who finished in a five-way tie for fourth at 10 under.I had a chance and thats all I can ask for, Hall said. I hit the ball well here, played a fantastic final round and went on and took that victory into my best ball-striking week Ive ever had as a golfer at Tigers event in Orlando. • Mark Wood has revealed that he is ahead of schedule as he recovers from an ankle injury and is hoping to be fit for Englands Test series with Pakistan. Fake Air Force 1 . The 26-year-old fast bowler missed Englands tour of South Africa as well as the ongoing series with Sri Lanka but is now hoping to be back in action for Durham by the end of June. That would give Wood the opportunity to play in one County Championship game before the first Test against Pakistan begins at Lords on July 14. Its coming along nicely, Im a month ahead of schedule, Wood told Sky Sports. I was originally meant to be back at the end of July, now Im looking to play again by the end of June.Im pleased with the progress, its just a shame that Ive missed the first part of the season but Im hoping for a big bang in the second part of the season.I think [Ill be available for one County Championship match] before the Pakistan series, thats the timescale, but whether England will take the punt I dont know. Woods last England appearance came against Pakistan in October England have been dominant in the two Tests so far against Sri Lanka to wrap up the series with a game to spare and Wood is under no illusions about the challenge he faces to force his way back into the team.Theyre doing pretty well at the minute so itll be hard to get back in! he added. The lads are playing some great cricket and it was nice to be part of the Test match this week - I was allowed in the dressing room with the lads and it was great to see everyone again.England are doing really well so Im going to have to pull out all the stops to get back in. Plenty of ice, plenty of rest and I’ve got rehab drills where I go through my ankle exercises to make sure it’s nice and strong. Hopefully with that joint now fixed I can put in some good fast bowling performances. Mark Wood told Sky Sports Wood admitted to having been frustrated during his spell on the sidelines but, with a return now in sight, he is keen to start making up for lost time. Its definitely worse watching because you cant affect the game but now Im hoping to put that behind me and this month crack on with playing some games for Durham, he said. Then if I do well for Durham then Im looking to get back into that England side. Scott Borthwick is enjoying a great start to the season with Durham One man who could join Wood in the England side this summer is Scott Borthwick. The Durham all-rounder has been in fantastic form, in particular with the bat, and has been widely tipped for a recall to the Test side in the near future.Hes in some form, Badge is a quality player, hes probably one of the best timers of a cricket ball Ive seen in the country, Wood said of his county team-mate.Whether he gets picked is up to the selectors but hes certainly put his name in the hat with the performances hes putting in for Durham.Hes not just getting 70s and 80s, hes getting good, big hundreds and thats what the selectors look for. Hopefully he can make that step up, if called upon. One game after a miserable showing in Oklahoma City, Gay tied a career high with 41 points and the Sacramento Kings cruised to a 114-97 victory at the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Denver Broncos already faced the NFLs toughest stretch in their bid to reach the playoffs and defend their Super Bowl title.Their path just got much, much tougher. The Broncos lost 13-10 Sunday to the one team left on their schedule without 10 wins already. Instead, the Tennessee Titans finished off a big victory that kept them tied with Houston atop the AFC South. Now the Broncos (8-5) are two back in the mighty AFC West with three games remaining -- and in a crowded field for a wild-card berth. From the outside looking in, a lot of people are going to say it doesnt look good, Denver coach Gary Kubiak said. Ive been part of a hell of a lot worse and come out of it. Were going to keep battling. Im a battler. Those guys in the locker room are battlers. We fought until the end, but we didnt play good enough to win.Trevor Siemian returned from a sprained left foot that kept him out of Denvers 20-10 win at Jacksonville a week ago. Siemian threw for 334 yards and a touchdown, and the Broncos came up with two sacks. But Tennessee jumped to a 13-0 lead by running over the Broncos in the first half, making Von Miller do his damage with a team-high seven tackles but no sacks. The Broncos are stuck in third in the AFC West behind Kansas City and Oakland, both at 10-3.Making up that ground wont be easy, not with what the Broncos are facing.First, Denver hosts New England (10-2). Then theres a visit to Kansas City, which beat Denver 30-27 in overtime on Nov. 27, on Christmas night. Then Oakland comes to Denver on Jan. 1 to wrap up the regular season, already having beaten the Broncos 30-20 on Nov. 6.I mean the schedules nasty, but we can win those games, Denver linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. I feel like everybody has to be on the same accord and have that mentality of do or die. Thats what we were talking about in the meeting (after the game), so thats the mentality evverybodys taking. Dean Lowry Super Bowl Jersey. Denver also isnt in great position for a wild card with Miami and Pittsburgh both at 8-5, though Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill injured his knee Sunday. Baltimore is 7-5 with a game Monday night at New England. The Broncos will need more on offense despite Demaryius Thomas catching 10 passes for 126 yards and Emmanuel Sanders adding 100 yards and a touchdown catch.Justin Forsett, picked up off waivers Monday, got the first carry of the game for Denver against Tennessee and ran for 9 e yards. He was stripped by Titans safety Rashad Johnson at the end of the run, setting up the first of two field goals by Ryan Succop. A.J. Derby also fumbled, ending Denvers final drive.Denver needed the second completed pass by a punter in team history on fourth down to keep one drive alive. The Broncos also couldnt stop the Titans and DeMarco Murray from running the ball all over them in the first half. The Titans had 138 yards rushing on 26 carries. Denver did a better job against the NFLs third-best rushing offense in the second half, holding Tennessee to 253 yards in total for the game.It wasnt enough after falling behind 13-0.We had our chances down the stretch and we didnt make the plays, but the start sure as heck didnt help us, Siemian said.Sanders said the Broncos simply have to forget and move on to New England.Thats all we can do, Sanders said. On this loss, it is what it is. We have to move on.Safety T.J. Ward says the Broncos have to keep charging. You cant sit back and sulk and feel sorry for yourselves, man, Ward said. Most of the players and coaches got little sleep before playing the Nuggets. Its a good win for us, Harden said. Last night, double-overtime game, getting in at 5 a.m. and not really sleeping. ... We got off to a really good start, guys knocked down shots and just rode that wave the entire game.Rockets coach Mike DAntoni said the win was especially gratifying because of the circumstances and the way his team played.A lot of positives, he said. • WASHINGTON -- Ben Revere tied a career-high with four hits and the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 10-4 on Thursday night despite starter Cliff Lee leaving in the third inning with an elbow injury. Duke Shelley Jersey . Grady Sizemore had three hits and three RBIs as the Phillies pounded out 17 hits. After throwing ball one to Denard Span with two outs, Lee walked off the mound, looked into the Phillies dugout, and tapped his left arm with his glove hand. Lee, making his third start since missing two months, left the game, and the Phillies announced he had a recurrence of the flexor pronator strain that sidelined him in May. Antonio Bastardo (5-4) retired Span, the only batter he faced, and got the win. Span had two hits and two RBIs. Gio Gonzalez (6-7) failed to make it through four innings for the second time in three starts. He allowed five runs and eight hits over 3 2-3 innings. On July 20 against Milwaukee, he left after allowing three runs and throwing 88 pitches in 3 1-3 innings. With Ryan Zimmerman sidelined, the NL East-leading Nationals bolstered their infield Thursday, acquiring two-time All-Star Asdrubal Cabrera and cash from the Cleveland Indians for shortstop Zach Walters. Cabrera will play second base with Anthony Rendon shifted to third in Zimmermans absence After stranding runners in the first and third innings, the Phillies got to Gonzalez in the fourth. Sizemore doubled home two runs and made it 3-0 when, with the infield in, he beat second baseman Danny Espinosas throw home. Reveres single scored Darin Ruf and Rollins singled to load the bases with one out. Chase Utley hit a potential double-play grounder, but Ian Desmond dropped the throw from Espinosa, and settled for the force at second as Brown scored. It was Reveres fourth straight multi-hit game. The Nationals pulled within 5-3 on Spans 2-run single in the fifth. Philadelphia added two in the sixth on Rollins RBI-single and Utleys sacrifice fly. TRAINERS ROOM Nationals: Manager Matt Williams said theres still no timetable for the return of Zimmerman, out since July 23 with a strained right hamstring. "Hes going to do nothing for two weeks," Williams said. "Well make an evaluation after that." • (SportsNetwork. Detroit Red Wings Store .com) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to win two straight games for the first time since mid-January on Monday night as they play host to the struggling New York Islanders. The Canucks are coming off just their second victory in 13 games, having bested the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Saturday. That improved Vancouver to just 2-10-1 since Jan. 26. Eddie Lack settled down to finish with 22 saves after giving up the first goal of the game early in the second period on a slap shot from center ice taken by Calgarys Brian McGrattan. Darren Archibald tied the game with his first career NHL goal and defenseman Yannick Weber had the game-winner five minutes into the third period. With the win, Vancouver snapped a four-game slide and sits four points back of the Dallas Stars for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. It was a grind for both teams," said Canucks head coach John Tortorella. "Were just looking for points." Canucks winger Zack Kassian began serving a three-game suspension on Saturday that was handed down for an illegal check in Thursdays loss in Dallas. The Islanders wrap up a four-game swing through Western Canada tonight and are 1-1-1 on the trek. The regulation loss came last time out on Friday, a 4-3 setback to the Flames in which New York failed to hold a two-goal lead in the third period. Colin McDonald, Kyle Okposo and Brock Nelson lit the lamp for the Islanders, who have lost six of their past eight overall. Anders Nilsson made only 19 stops in the loss. "Its mental at this point," said Okposo, who had a shot ring off the post during a 5-on-3 power play early in the third period. "We give up one then we sit back and let them back in the game. We have to say enoughs enough." While Lack is likely to face the Islanders for the first time in his career tonight, it is unknown who will get the call for New York. Nilsson has never faced Vancouver, while Evgeni Nabokov is 14-7-3 with a 2.40 goals against average versus the Canucks. Nabokov made 28 saves in a 5-4 overtime loss to the visiting Canucks back on Oct. 22 in the first of two meetings this season. Nelson scored his first NHL goal in the setback, New Yorks third in a row to Vancouver. Brad Richardson had the game-winner for the Canucks, who have won four of five and eight of the past 10 encounters at home in this series. Red Wings Jerseys China .Y. - Referee Ed Hochuli referred to replay official Tom Sifferman by his nickname Jungle Boy, which was heard on the in-stadium microphone during the Arizona Cardinals-Carolina Panthers NFC wild-card game Saturday. Stitched Red Wings Jerseys . The Professional Referee Organization, which manages game officials for the U.S. Soccer Federation and MLS, notified the Professional Soccer Referee Association of the lockout and said replacement officials will be used.Arsenal - Reports linking Arsenal to 20-year old German midfielder Julian Draxler of Schalke excite.  Arsene Wenger reportedly wants to convert the player into an attacking force, much like he did with Robin Van Persie.  Draxler could very well fit the mold but such a transition takes time.  Arsenal has legitimate title aspirations this campaign and a more mature, ready-made attacking option is required.   Will Wenger swing for the fences for a short-term push? Aston Villa - Lose a big striker, sign another.  With Libor Kozak out for the season (broken leg), Villa reunites manager Paul Lambert with former Norwich City striker Grant Holt.  Its hardly the move Villa supporters are looking for.  The positive; the team adds more size and strength up front, which could bode well for a side desperate for goals.  Villa has only scored four in their last seven league matches.  Nickel and diming will only get the team so far. Cardiff City - Somehow, some way the Blue Birds are in the relegation zone.  Its tight at the bottom with only five points separating 13th from 20th.  Ole Gunnar Solksjaer doesnt have time to find his way, so hes bringing in young players he knows.  Hes landed Norwegian midfielder Mats Moller Daehli.  Cardiff has reportedly turned their sights to Manchester Uniteds Fabio and Wilfried Zaha.  Both players need games and fill roles of need in South Wales.  Seems like a win-win. Chelsea - The Blues spent £21 million on a player they once had.  Its hardly good business, but irrelevant for an owner flush with cash.  Serbian Nemanja Matic will slot into a midfield pivot role; a position of weakness for Jose Mourinho.  Frank Lampard cannot play there.  Michael Essien is on his way out.  Marco van Ginkel would have filled the role if healthy.  Its a big ask of Matic to make the quick transition to Premier League football in the middle of a title race.  Good news for Chelsea, team defensive play has been outstanding, conceding just twice in their last six.   Crystal Palace - The Eagles are in trouble.  Help doesnt seem on the horizon in the transfer window for the last place team.  Palace is playing much better under manager Tony Pulis.  If it werent for a dreadful penalty miss by Jason Puncheon last weekend, Palace could have taken points from Spurs.  Palace was the better side to start. There is simply no room for error for this team on a weekly basis.   Everton - Ross Barkley will only miss three weeks with a broken toe.  It was feared the injury was the dreaded metatarsal.  More good news with reports Leighton Baines is prepared to sign a new long-term deal to stay at Goodison, fending off interest from Manchester United.  Keeping the core together is essential for a team on the rise.  A January purchase of another striker is required for a true push for Champions League qualification.  They are perilously thin up front behind Romelu Lukaku. Fulham - A striking fall from grace for Bryan Ruiz who moves from Craven Cottage to PSV Eindhoven.  Ruiz looked to be a proper Premier League attacking talent.  Thankfully for the Cottagers, they have attacking talent to spare.  Fulham are in desperate need of defensive help in their relegation fight.  The team has conceded a disturbing 20 goals in the last six games.  And yet Fulham have reportedly moved for West Hams Ravel Morrison?  Strange. Hull City - The Tigers splashed £12 million in transfer fees for mediocre-at-best strikers Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long, signaling intent to stay in the BPL.  Its over-spending at its finest, but I actually like the moves - a good gamble for a team playing above expectations.  In Jelavic, Steve Bruce is hoping a similar return to the impressive nine goals in 13 games after his move from Rangers to Everton in 2012.  The Croatian needs to impress ahead of FIFA World Cup 2014.  Long is a useful player, bringing some necessary steel to the front line.   Liverpool - Its been a wonderful season at Anfield, but an honest assessment of where the team would be without Luis Suarez and his 22 goals suggests they lack top-level talent across the midfield. More is needed behind him and Daniel Sturridge. A 5-3 win at the Britannia continued to expose midfield and defensive frailties. Brendan Rodgers has work to do.  Will there be money for a significant January purchase? Manchester City - Huge loss for Manchester City losing Samir Nasri to a knee injury for eight weeks.  Nasri has been on sensatiional form. Red Wings Jerseys 2020. .  The Frenchmans absence opens up a starting role for Jesus Navas, who continues to impress.  Navas adds more speed and natural width to a side often playing narrow.  Thats not criticism; the tactical shift will simply change the approach for a team lethal in attack.  The return of Sergio Aguero also softens the blow.  For all the accolades Suarez receives, Aguero has been every bit the player as the Liverpool man this season. Manchester United - Darren Fletchers return is a significant upgrade in Uniteds midfield.  Tom Cleverley has proven not good enough; a passenger and non-influential in a position crying out for a difference-maker.  The all-action Scottish international has shown signs of his old self, working his way back to fitness.  Fletcher can fill the short-term void in the middle until United likely land a top central midfielder player (or two) in the summer. Newcastle United - In a day managers are reprimanded for any discretion, Alan Pardew has escaped FA punishment for his rant/actions during last weekends 2-0 defeat.  Pardew lost it on City manager Manuel Pellegrini in a tirade not safe for print, while lashing out at referee Mike Jones for his egregious decision, disallowing Cheick Tiotes wonder-goal.  Soccer is a game officiated based upon interpretation of the rules.  Jones biggest wrongdoing was overruling his linesmans decision.  His hasty decision was a black-mark on a game with direct implications on the title race.  Another example BPL officiating simply isnt good enough. Norwich City - Three goals in their last six, the struggles continue at Carrow Road.  The Canaries get more experience in the side as Jonas Gutierrez joins on-loan, but that doesnt solve issues in attack.  The next three weeks (Hull, Newcastle, Cardiff) are critical.  Its more than Chris Houghtons job on the line.  Its Premier League survival. Southampton - Executive chairman Nicola Cortese leaving raises questions about the direction at St. Marys.  Highly regarded manager Mauricio Pochettino publicly remains committed.  That remains to be seen.  This kind of disruption threatens mid-table teams with ambition.  A potential club sale further complicates matters.  Now all eyes are cast towards possible players leaving.  Left-back Luke Shaw is the most desirable piece, with striker Rickie Lambert having short-term value.   Sunderland - Credit manager Gus Poyet for getting the most out of this rag-tag bunch.  The team is playing well and has just sold possibly the worst player in the league, Ji Dong-Won to Augsburg.  Good riddance.  Midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung is developing into a top player.  Belief at the Stadium of Light is tangible.  A team on the rise. Stoke City - The Potters in an entertaining match seems an oxy-moron.  A 5-3 loss to Liverpool was as exciting as it gets (so much for the defensive wall at the Britannia).  Mark Hughes team is showing willingness to attack; it just doesnt have the players.  The loan signing of John Guidetti from City, however, is intriguing.  Guidetti in attack adds substance to a team in need of goals.  Swansea City - Injuries have ravaged the promising side.  Although squad depth has been impressive, the lack of consistency in selection has hurt.  The passing is wonderful, but team defending leaves much to be desired.  The decision to allow Ki Sung-Yeung to stay at Sunderland shows long-term vision. Tottenham - Midfield competition has created apparent discontent.  Lewis Holtby and Nacer Chadli are both reportedly seeking moves elsewhere to find playing time.  Tim Sherwoods four-man midfield changes the landscape.  Natural width is priority, with multi-dimensional players who can cover lots of ground.  The evolution in the squad will continue.  With Jermain Defoe moving to Toronto FC, another striker should be priority.  Where Eric Lamela fits is unknown.   West Bromwich Albion - Another squad in transition.  Pepe Mel has taken over and a more continental approach, ala Swansea or Southampton is should follow.  The spine of the team and youth remains impressive.  Lets see how they adapt in the coming weeks. West Ham United - Last weekends 2-0 win settled the nerves at West Ham for the time being.  Sam Allardyce looks set to stay.  Andy Carroll has returned.  And West Ham looks intent to add a striker in January.  Will it all be enough to avoid relegation?  The team remains a mess defensively. • Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork. Dave Pacella Jersey Store .com) - Ben Lovejoy tallied a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks cruised into the All-Star break with a 6-3 victory against the Calgary Flames. Tim Jackman, Pat Maroon, Kyle Palmieri, Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf all lit the lamp and Frederik Andersen made 30 saves for the Ducks, who have won five straight games. Sean Monahan scored for the fourth game in a row, while Joe Colborne and Mikael Backlund also lit the lamp for the Flames, who had their four-game winning streak come to an end. The Flames were last victorious at Honda Center on Jan. 19, 2004 The Ducks seized control early with a three-goal first period. Matt Beleskey emerged from behind the net and slipped a pass through the crease to Palmieri, who wristed the shot past Ortio 4:41 into the game. Jackman gave the Ducks a 4-0 advantage midway through the second with a wrist shot over the glove of Ortio, chasing the Calgary netminder from the game. The Flames, however, cut the deficit to two heading into the final stanza. Backlund deposited a loose puck into the net at 11;13 and Monahan finished off a smooth tic-tac-toe passing play with a quick shot from the slot with 48 seconds left in the second. Less than eight minutes into the third, Palmieri had a power-play goal waved off after it was ruled that he pushed Hillers pad into the net. Getzlaf made it a 5-2 game after he took Corey Perrys backhanded pass and beat Hillers glove with a snap shot with 10:16 remaining. Colborne responded just 58 seconds later after he batted a loose puck past Andersen to make it a two-goal game once again. Kesler scored on an empty net with 19 seconds left to account for the final score. Game Notes The Ducks are now 23-0-6 this season when leading after the first period ... • (SportsNetwork. James Lofton Jersey .com) - Jon Lester eyes his fourth win this postseason on Monday when the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals play a pivotal Game 5 of the World Series at Busch Stadium. Lester gave the Red Sox the early advantage in this series, as he scattered five hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings to nail down the Game 1 win and improve to 3-1 this postseason, while lowering his ERA to 1.67. He is also 2-0 lifetime in the World Series and has yet to allow a run in 13 2/3 innings. "His physical strength and endurance is unique," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "I think the one thing we all recognize is that power stuff wins in the postseason. Hes got it. He maintains it. And in addition to his physical strengths, theres a degree of concentration that hes capable of maintaining that gives him the ability to execute consistently." Of course, during his Game 1 win a St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguer tweeted out a picture and suggested that Lester may be hiding a foreign substance in his glove. Videos then surfaced and the story seemed to take on a life of its own before the Cardinals and Major League Baseball both said there was nothing to it. "Im sure theres going to be a focus on my glove and focus on my hands and what Im doing, but Ive got to worry about the Cardinals," said Lester. "If Im worried about what people are looking at, Im worried about the wrong things. Im going to go out and pitch my game." St. Louis, meanwhile, will turn to its ace Adam Wainwright, who will be trying to bounce back from a poor showing in that Game 1 assignment. Wainwright lost his second straight postseason start in that one and allowed five runs -- three earned -- and six hits in five innings. The NL wins leader this season with 19, Wainwright is 2-2 this postseason with a 2.25 ERA. "I honestly dont know why my mechanics were as bad as they were, why my delivery was off as much as it was," Wainwright said. "But I feel like Ive put in a lot of good reps in front of the mirror and watching film and feeling my delivery, learning the basics all over again. I feel like Ive made a lot of good adjustments to be ready to throw some quality pitches the next time. I threw maybe four or five quality pitches the whole time I was pitching (in Game 1)." Wainwright is 4-0 with a 1.07 ERA in eight postseason games -- four starts -- in St. Louis. Boston evened this best-of-seven set at two games apiece on Sunday with a 4-2 win, as Jonny Gomes cracked a three-run homer in the sixth inning to break a tie and David Ortiz reached base in all four plate appearances. The Red Sox bounced back nicely after losing Game 3 Saturday night on the first walk-off obstruction call in World Series history. Sundays game ended abruptly with a pickoff when Red Sox closer Koji Uehara caught Kolten Wong leaning off first base with Carlos Beltran at the plate as the tying run for the Cardinals. Wong said his foot slipped as he turned to get back to the bag. "I knew I was dead," said Wong. Gomes -- a late replacement when Shane Victorino was scratched from the lineup because of lower back tightness -- homered into the Boston bullpen behind left field with two outs off reliever Seth Maness, who had just entered for St. Louis starter Lance Lynn. "The one thing you can guarantee is when Im in the lineup, Im going to be swinging," said Gomes. Maness threw Gomes five sinkers, leaving the last one up in the zone. "I just missed my spot," said Maness. Beltran had an RBI single in the defeat for the Cardinals, who lost for the first time this postseason when scoring first (8-1). Of the previous 42 times that a World Series has been tied 2-2, the winner of Game 5 has gone on to win the series 27 times, but just three times in the last 10 occasions. This is the 10th time that St. Louis has been in this position and has won Game 5 just four times. However, it has gone on to win the series in eight of those instances. Boston, meanwhile, has been tied 2-2 three other times and has lost the series on all three occasions, despite winning Game 5 twice. This series will shift back to Fenway Park for Game 6 on Wednesday. Will Redmond Jersey ... as usual. Even with the salary cap being set lower than many general managers expected and hoped for at $69 million and whats considered a shallow pool of top-end players available, this unrestricted-free-agent period figures to follow the familiar script of teams bidding up prices to keep up with each other. Billy Turner Jersey . -- Once again, Carlos Santana was a huge hit in Kansas City.Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez used "coded messages" to communicate about his murder case in jailhouse phone calls, Massachusetts prosecutors said in a request for access to recordings of his calls. In the calls, Hernandez discussed the murder of Odin Lloyd, including his "belief about his criminal liability" and the "extent of his control over persons charged as accessories," according to the request filed Thursday in Fall River Superior Court. The ex-player also talked about other matters related to his co-defendants "whereabouts and likely criminal liability," the motion says. Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty in the killing of Lloyd, a 27-year-old Boston man who played semi-professional football and was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Two associates said to be with Hernandez and Lloyd on the night of the killing -- Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz -- have pleaded not guilty to charges of accessory after the fact. Defence attorneys didnt immediately respond to messages seeking comment. Inmates are notified that their calls, except those with their lawyer, are recorded and the contents are provided to law enforcement if requested, the filing says. Prosecutors are also asking a judge to order the Bristol County sheriffs office to turn over records of jailhouse visits Hernandez had, including from hiss fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, and cousin, Tanya Singleton. Lynn Dickey Jersey. Jenkins has pleaded not guilty to perjury in the case, and Singleton has pleaded not guilty to contempt and conspiracy charges. Singleton was released from jail this week on $15,000 bail. Prosecutors want Judge Susan Garsh to take up their request on Wednesday, Hernandezs next scheduled hearing date. Meanwhile, the defence filed a motion Friday seeking more details about the murder and weapons charges Hernandez faces. They want to know, among other things, if the prosecution alleges he was the gunman or acted as a "joint venturer." Prosecutors have said Hernandez "orchestrated" the killing but never specifically identified who pulled the trigger. Lloyds bullet-riddled body was found by a jogger on June 17 in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandezs North Attleborough home. Prosecutors say Hernandez was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people at a nightclub with whom Hernandez had problems. Documents released in Connecticut in January indicate police have been investigating Hernandezs possible role in a 2012 double murder in Boston. Police say in the records theres probable cause to believe he was driving the vehicle used in the shooting and "may have been the shooter." ---- Associated Press writer Michelle R. Going the other way is Montreals fifth-round draft pick in 2014 and its conditional third-round pick in 2015. The five-foot-six, 181-pound native for Mort Lauderdale, Fla., began his professional career with the Alouettes in 2008, earning the CFLs special teams player of the year award the following season. He finished the 2009 season with 1,971 combined yards, the most in the CFL, while also scoring three touchdowns. "We welcome Larry back into the nest. Having obtained another one of our originals and one of the most exciting players in the CFL gives us great competition and depth at the WR and Returner positions," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in a statement.
