    • The Edmonton Oilers have traded disappointing former first overall draft pick Nail Yakupov to the St. Corey Linsley Super Bowl Jersey . Louis Blues for a prospect and conditional draft pick, the teams announced Friday evening. It marks the second time in just more than three months that the Oilers have traded a former first overall draft pick. On June 30, they dealt Taylor Hall, the first overall pick in 2010, to New Jersey for defenseman Adam Larsson. The return for Yakupov, the first pick in 2012, was significantly lower and illustrates just how far his stock has fallen since he was drafted. The Oilers will receive Zach Pochiro and a third-round pick in 2017. That pick will become a second-round pick in 2018 if Yakupov scores 15 goals or more during the coming season.Pochiro is a center who was drafted in the fourth round, 112th overall, in 2013. He is 22 years old and played in the ECHL last season. He has not played in an NHL game.Yakupov, 23, has scored 50 goals in 252 NHL games and has never scored more than 17 in a single season. He scored 17 in his rookie season with the Oilers during the lockout-shortened 2013 campaign. He had just eight goals last season and had been rumored to be on the trade block for months. The Oilers retained none of Yakupovs salary in the deal, a source told ESPNs Pierre LeBrun.Edmonton also finalized a one-year contract with unrestricted free-agent defenseman Kris Russell. The new deal between the Oilers and Russell is worth $3.1 million, a source told LeBrun. Russell has remained on the market all summer despite being a top-four defenseman. In 573 games in the NHL, Russell has scored 177 points playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.Russell, 29, led the League in 2014-15 with 283 blocked shots. Adrian Amos Super Bowl Jersey . • MINNEAPOLIS -- When it became clear to Kevin Martin that returning to Oklahoma City wasnt an option, one of his first thoughts was to reunite with Rick Adelman, the coach who got him started in the NBA in Sacramento and later helped him become an offensive force in Houston. Dave Pacella Jersey Store . As much as Martin wanted to play for Adelman, who will begin his third season as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves in October, it still wasnt exactly clear to him if the desire to get back together was mutual. Adelman is one of the most accomplished coaches in the game, and also one of the hardest to read. He rarely shows much emotion and is known as much for a curmudgeonly demeanour as he is for his famed corner offence. That question was emphatically answered when Martin came to Minnesota in July to sign a four-year deal that will pay him nearly $28 million. "He gave me a hug," Martin remembered on Monday at his introductory press conference. "As we all know Rick, hes not the guy to do anything like that, so thats when it kind of hit the stamp on my decision." Martin played for Adelman during his first two seasons in the league with the Kings, then spent two more years getting coached by him in Houston. In their final season together, Martin averaged 23.5 points, shot 38 per cent on 3-pointers and attempted more than seven free throws a game for the Rockets. When Adelman left, Martin didnt fit in with new coach Kevin McHales system, and he averaged 14 points per game last year in a supporting role with the Thunder. Now back under Adelmans tutelage, and playing for a team that desperately needs more scoring punch in the backcourt, Martin is ready to resume his role as a go-to scorer. New Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders made adding size and 3-point range at shooting guard his biggest priorities, and it didnt take long for him to zero in on Martin after having discussions with O.J. Mayo and J.J. Redick as well. Martin shot a career-high 42.6 per cent from 3-point range last season and knows Adelmans offence -- built on an intricate web of passing and cutting without the ball -- as well as anyone. Saunders said Monday that they were looking for a guy who could give them 17-18 points a game at the spot next season after years of dealing with underperformance at that position. "I have no pressure doing that," Martin said. "I feel I can do that in my sleep." Martin said it will be a challenge to get back to the 23.5 he averaged in Houston in 2010-11, but he is shooting for 22 per game. If the Wolves get that kind of production to go with Ricky Rubio, the healthy return of Kevin Love and the anticipated re-signing of restricted free agent Nikola Pekovic, their first playoff berth since 2004 could be well within reach. As much as Saunders is looking forward to Martins production on the court, he is also anxious to see the impact his presence has on a young locker room. The 30-year-old is entering his 10th season and has built a reputation as a hard worker and good locker room guy. Martin has already reached out to first-round draft pick Shabazz Muhammad, who was kicked out of the NBAs rookie transition program last week for violating event rules by bringing a woman to his hotel room. Saunders said the team wont impose any more discipline on Muhammad, who will have to attend the program again next year. "The biggest thing in any situation where there are rules and guidelines, you have to abide by them," Saunders said. "That shows discipline. As I explained to him, part of being successful at our level is being disciplined, both on and off the court." For now, Martin is headed back to Florida to start a six-week training program with longtime trainer David Thorpe and several other NBA players, including new teammate Corey Brewer. He knows that if he wants to play bigger minutes and have bigger responsibilities at his age, he cant afford to take any short cuts. "Im hungry for it," he said. Notes: Saunders has been granted permission by the Washington Wizards to talk to assistant GM Milt Newton about a position in the Timberwolves front office. ... Friday night was another case of close but not close enough for Western Sydney, held to a 1-1 A-League draw by Brisbane thanks to their own wastefulness and Michael Theos safe hands. If A-League points were awarded for promise, then the Wanderers wouldnt still be seventh on the table, with a fifth draw in eight games and yet to triumph at Spotless Stadium in four.Their second half at their temporary home ground, led by marquee playmaker Nicolas Martinez, would likely rate as their strongest yet except for a late 10-minute spell from Brisbane.Yet the Roar, despite ceding copious amounts of territory and possession, claimed a valuable point to remain third, courtesy of striker-in-the-headlines Jamie Maclaren.Maclaren put this weeks contractual impasse to one side to earn and then convert a first-half penalty, before Japanese import Jumpei Kusukami settled the score on 56 minutes with his first A-League goal off a teasing Jack Clisby volley. But despite the abundant chances - the Wanderers had 18 shots to the Roars seven - this contest was far removed from the goal-happy affair of last seasons epic 5-4 extra-time thriller.Holding the lions share of the ball and territory, the hosts again showed elements of real quality but were regularly let down by one too many a touch or misplaced pass.Gilt-edged chances came and went for Kerem Bulut and Brendon Santalab among others, while Martinez, who played raider alongside Mitch Nichols, drew a superb save from a busy Theo. Dennis McKinnon Jersey Store. At the other end, No.2 gloveman Jerrad Tyson pressed his case as Andrew Redmaynes replacement by denying Brett Holman with skill.Moments later, he botched it by lunging at Maclaren in the box, an error of judgement that was perhaps a symptom of nearly three years on the sidelines.Maclaren capitalised, sending Tyson the wrong way from the spot. They could have crumbled, but Tony Popovics men sprang into life after the break.Scott Neville was a blistering outlet on the right flank but, unsurprisingly, Martinez orchestrated the equaliser, playing an intelligent ball into the path of an onrushing Clisby, whose subsequent cross presented a straightforward tap-in for Jumpei.Popovic couldnt help but wonder how a second win of the campaign had evaded his side.Weve wondered that a few times this year - more than a few - but thats football, he said.Again, we showed how good we are without the result.Roar coach John Aloisi admitted there was a lot left wanting from his teams performance. We ended up inviting pressure by sitting so deep, Aloisi said.It wasnt our plan but the Wanderers pinned us back and we couldnt get out, then - when we did get the ball - we didnt keep it for long enough. But when youre not playing well, you need to somehow grind out a result, and we did do that so thats a positive. • NEW YORK -- Detroit coach Jeff Blashill liked the way his team bounced back after a tough loss against the defending champions the previous night and a difficult third period in which the Red Wings twice gave up the lead. Gary Spani Jersey .Danny DeKeyser scored 1:02 into overtime to give Detroit a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday night.Mike Green scored twice and Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist to help the Red Wings improve to 4-1-2 in their last seven games. Detroit was coming off 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday in which the Penguins scored four times in the third period to rally.I was happy overall, Blashill said. Obviously you get leads and then you give them up, you dont want to do that. Theyre a good team, too, and theyre going to push as well. I thought our guys stayed with it even after the times we gave up those goals. We had real good bounce-back shifts, I thought. That was real important.Peter Mrazek stopped 32 shots to improve to 3-0-2 in his past five starts. On the winning goal, Thomas Tatar brought the puck into the offensive zone on the right side and sent a pass to DeKeyser in the middle. He fired it past Halak on the blocker side.I jumped up in the play, they had a guy changing and I beat him up the ice, DeKeyser said, and Tats threw it over to me and it went in. It was a good feeling.Anders Lee, Johnny Boychuk and Josh Bailey scored for New York, which had won a season-high three straight. Jaroslav Halak finished with 30 saves. It was a game we really needed the two (points) and take advantage of a team on a tough back-to-back, Islanders captain John Tavares said. Some good things, but still room for improvement and obviously we need the results.Detroits Frans Nielsen had an assist while facing his former team for the first time since leaving the Islanders for a six-year, $31.5 million deal with the Red Wings last summer. The 32-year-old Danish center, selected by the Islanders in the third round of the 2002 draft, had 119 goals and 230 assists over 10 seasons in New York.Zetterberg gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead with 6:54 remaining, deflecting Jonathan Ericssons point shot past Halak on the goalies glove side for his sixth of the season. The veteran forward leads the Red Wings with 19 points. The Islanders tied it 2:33 after Zetterbergs goal. Dennis Seidenbergs shot was stopped by Mrazek, and as the puck rolled to the right side, Bailey and Tavares both whacked at it, with Bailey getting credit for the goal. The Islanders trailed 2-1 after two periods before Boychuk tied it 1:52 into the third. Casey Cizikas sent the puck toward the net, it rolled around the boards and DeKeyser tried to clear it. But the puck went to Boychuk, who fired it past Mrazek for his fourth of the season and second in three games.Green nearly had a third goal less than 5 minutes later but it was overturned on a challenge by Islanders coach Jack Capuano for goalie interference by Detroit center Luke Glendening.Green gave the Red Wings a 2-1 lead with 5:20 left in the second period, taking a pass from Thomas Vanek and beating Halak in the top right corner. It was Greens sixth of the season and his first multi-goal game since his first career hat trick against Ottawa on Oct. 17.Green credited the win to his teams increased effort after the previous nights loss.We raised the bar a little bit and if we continue to do that, well be good, the veteran defenseman said. We played well. Its just a matter of keeping that compete level up.Lee got the Islanders on the scoreboard first 5:16 into the game on their first shot on goal as he took a centering pass from Cal Clutterbuck and wristed it through a couple of defenders and past Mrazek. It was Lees sixth of the season and fifth in the last six games.Green tied it with 7:07 remaining in the first on a one-timer off a pass from Nielsen.About 2 minutes later, Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic received 17 minutes of penalties for fighting Detroits Steve Ott. After Tavares was hit in the face by a high stick from the Red Wings Drew Miller, Ott came in and hit Tavares as he backed away and held his face. Hamonic took exception and fought Ott and received instigator, fighting and misconduct penalties.Game notes Nielsens assist was his ninth of the season and it gave him 15 points, second on the team behind Zetterberg. ... The Red Wings scratched D Ryan Sproul and LW Thomas Nosek. ... The teams play twice more, both at Detroit, on Feb. 3 and Feb. 21. ... If youre an NBA team trying to end a losing streak, the San Antonio Spurs are not likely the opponent youd want to square off against.Thats the task at hand for the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday when they host surging San Antonio at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.The Spurs (10-3) have been nearly bulletproof on the road to open the season, going 7-0 and winning games in Oakland against Golden State, in Houston and twice in Sacramento. But this three-game stretch -- which starts in Charlotte, heads to Boston and ends in Washington, D.C. -- undoubtedly will test the San Antonios mettle.San Antonio heads to the Queen City on the heels of a lethargic 96-91 win against shorthanded Dallas on Monday that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich labeled awful and pathetic. Just think about how Popovich can go off when San Antonio loses. The Spurs are still trying to find the proper roles for the seven new players on their roster. San Antonio rested guard Tony Parker and forward LaMarcus Aldridge against the Mavericks, a common practice for Popovich no matter the opponent as he looks at the seasons big picture.Everyone needs some time to adjust to our system, Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said after the win on Monday. It is what it is; we understand that thats the way it is. We all come from different roles. Once you get adjusted to it, you understand what Pops looking for from us.Spurs reserve forward David Lee, one of those newcomers, scored 12 points in the win over Dallas. He said the difference in the way San Antonio has played on the road as compared to home is nothing to be concerned about.Sometimes it just works out that way, Lee said. Kendall Fuller Jersey. (Monday) we were without Tony and LaMarcus, two of the guys that really get us in rhythm. I just think weve had a couple of games where we havent played our best at home.Charlotte (8-5) fell behind by 22 at halftime and never rallied in a 105-90 loss at home to Memphis on Monday. Its just the second time this season that the Hornets have lost consecutive games. This whole thing is about getting better, Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. San Antonio is an elite team and we have to play to our game, which starts with having the right intensity, the right detail and the right togetherness. We have to start better and we have to sustain better.Guard Kemba Walker is averaging 24.7 points in 13 games, which is the second most points a Charlotte player has averaged since Glen Rice posted 26.8 in 1996-97. It marks only the second time a player has averaged more than 23 points in Charlotte history and is the highest scoring average since Al Jefferson averaged 21.8 in 2013-14.Backcourt mate guard Nicolas Batum continues to be one of the most versatile players in the league, doing everything from scoring, setting up his teammates and rebounding. Batum is averaging 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists and is one of only five players in the NBA averaging 14-6-5.We didnt have the energy we usually have, Batum said after the loss to Memphis. Maybe we had some hangover from the loss in New Orleans, which was really tough. We have to move on and get ready for San Antonio. ' ' '

LANDOVER, Md. -- Discussing Dak Prescott after the rookie quarterbacks first NFL victory, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones managed to throw in references to folks such as Troy Aikman, Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger -- QBs with nine Super Bowl victories combined. Not bad company for a guy who was a fourth-round draft pick and is only playing because Tony Romo is out with an injured back.Prescott ran for a 6-yard TD , went 22 for 30 for 292 yards, and showed a veterans poise in the pocket, helping the Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins 27-23 on Sunday as he stayed turnover-free as a pro so far.He exudes confidence, Jones said about Prescott. LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Tucker West and his sled were too heavy last week. This week, they were too good.West won his second career World Cup luge gold medal Friday, edging Russias Semen Pavlichenko by the smallest margin of victory on the circuit in nearly four years. West finished two runs on his home Mount Van Hoevenberg track in 1 minute, 43.088 seconds -- a mere 0.006 seconds faster than Pavlichenko, who was in position to win until the last curve of the competition.Luckily, I showed up today, West said. His win was part of a big day for USA Luge. Earlier Friday, Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken of Germany won the doubles race, narrowly beating Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman -- the first American doubles sled to medal in a World Cup since 2010.Put another way, Germany went five days without winning a World Cup doubles medal. The U.S. went six years without one.Its been a long journey, for sure, Terdiman said.It was a long week for West, who was in second place at the midpoint of last weekends season opener in Winterberg when he was disqualified for being overweight. He more than atoned for that Friday, adding this gold to the one he won at Lake Placid in 2014.It was disappointing last week, sitting in second and having that taken away from you by a technicality, West said. Obviously, thats going to be disappointing. But I saw the speed was there and I was looking forward to this week, being on home ice and in front of friends and family. I was angry. I was determined to do better and I was hungry to do it.Wolfgang Kindl of Austria was third, 0.094 seconds behind West. American doubles teams had not reached the podium in 60 World Cup races since, including sprint competitions. This one will taste better, I think, Terdiman said. The Americans didnt even have to wait to see the scoreboard at the finish line. From the roar of the crowd as they made their way out of the final turn, they knew a medal was theirs.Im really hoping this is the stepping stone for a brighter future, Mortensen said. This shows we can get in there. This was part of our four-year plan, to get a medal this season, and now weve done it early and this is fantastic.U.S. womens luge star Erin Hamlin said Mortensen and Terdiman knew after last weekends World Cup opener, where they finished fourth in the sprint race and sixth in the doubles, they were sliding well enough to compete.Coming to home ice apparently was the final piece of the puzzle. This years been really good for them, Hamlin said. Theyve had really solid training. I think theyre finally at a point where theyre pretty comfortable on their sled, really enjoying sliding and feeling good about sliding. So I think its exciting to see.The World Cup resumes Saturday with the womens race and team relay. USA Luge swept the podium in the womens race at Mount Van Hoevenberg last year. ' ' '

"Im in a really good position for tomorrow," Scott said. http://www.customchiefsjersey.com/custom-sammy-watkins-jersey-large-1856n.html . Peter Gammons, an analyst for Major League Baseballs network and website, drew the ire of hockey fans on Sunday when he criticized the two NHL teams on Twitter for their physical game the night before. FRISCO, Texas -- Dez Bryant appeared in the locker room Thursday and seemed to be in a good mood, which was more than the Dallas receiver could say for the first two days of the week. The 2014 All-Pro missed medical appointments and team meetings over two days away from the Cowboys this week, and coach Jason Garrett said he was trying to avoid news on his injured right knee that he thought would be bad but was better than expected.Bryant declined to comment but kept a steady presence in the locker room for the 45 minutes it was open to reporters, at one point playing music loudly the same way he did last season when he was out with a broken foot and had a contentious relationship with the media.Later, he sat smiling on a counter looking into the locker room while talking to a member of the public relations staff. And then he took to Twitter to try to explain himself.I made a poor decision based on how I felt about my knee (and Garrett) addressed it to me and I understood the consequences, Bryant tweeted Thursday afternoon. He also called himself day to day.Garrett said Bryant missed an MRI on Monday and a team meeting Tuesday before finally getting the exam Wednesday. The MRI revealed a hairline fracture in a bone in his right knee, which he injured in last weeks win over Chicago. Its possible Bryant wont miss Sundays game at San Francisco because the Cowboys have had similar scenarios with injury in the past. But he has missed the first two days of practice this week, an indication hes unlikely to play.It stems from someone who is very passionate about what he does and he did not handle this the right way, Garrett said. He expressed that to me. He expressed that to other coaches and teammates. You can understand why he did what he did, given the passion that he has for the game and for this football team and where he thought he was. Im not excusing any behavior that he has.Tight end Jason Witten, in his 14th season and closing in on the franchise record for games started, said he respected Bryants passion and appreciated the relationship they have.Anytime things like that happen, we all look at it and say, maybe we could do this diffferent or do that different, Witten said. Demarcus Robinson Jersey. That happens. And every situations different. You handle it, you address it and you move forward as a team.Garrett said there were repercussions but didnt specify whether there was a fine for Bryant, who signed a five-year, $70 million contract before last season.Dez understands he has a responsibility to be here, Garrett said. He was completely well-intended. Hes a driven guy and his response to this was not the right one. It was an understandable response given his personality and everything he puts into this.According to Garrett, Bryant was reacting to the initial diagnosis in the 31-17 win against the Bears. He injured the knee on a catch on the second play of the game but came back and caught rookie quarterback Dak Prescotts first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.Bryant missed seven games last season, the first five after breaking his right foot in the opener. The foot wasnt the same all season, and he also battled ankle and knee injuries. The Cowboys opted to sit him the final two games when they were out of contention on the way to a 4-12 finish.Garrett said the team had indirect communication with Bryant while he was absent, declining to be more specific. We just address it. We solve it. We move on, Garrett said. We have very direct conversations. He understands it. Thats not to suggest that everything he does going forward is going to be handled the right way.Witten defended his teammate. There was a lot of moving parts with the other stuff and moving logistics, Witten said. We all understand the standards and expectations for us. Weve got to handle that and sometimes thats difficult when you have setbacks with injuries or potential injuries.Game notes Pro Bowl T Tyron Smith missed his second straight practice with a back issue that flared up late last week and caused him to miss the Chicago game.---Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Schuyler Dixon on Twitter at https://twitter.com/apschuyler ' ' '

    • MADISON, Wis. Yeezy Boost 350 Wholesale . -- Finally, Wisconsin had a breather.Tested week after week with close games against the Big Tens tougher teams, the seventh-ranked Badgers assumed the role of playoff contender in beating up on one of the leagues weaker squads.Corey Clement ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns, Dare Ogunbowale added 103 yards on seven carries and Wisconsins defense intercepted Illinois quarterback Jeff George Jr. four times in rolling to a 48-3 win on Saturday. The Badgers (8-2, 5-2, No. 7 CFP) led by 18 after the first quarter with two scores from Clement, and 31-3 at the half on a homecoming weekend at Camp Randall Stadium. After playing five top 10 opponents over its first nine games, Wisconsin beat Illinois like it was a non-conference pushover. Its very frustrating when you have to win games by seven or 14, and it kind of gets old, Clement said. I would like to get back to this style of football to where we can close out the game.George had an awful day a week after helping Illinois rally to beat Michigan State. George was 5 of 16 for 79 yards in the first half against Wisconsin before getting pulled for former starter Wes Lunt. That didnt work, either. Illinois (3-7, 2-5) managed just 60 yards and three first downs in the second half.I didnt see much to talk about today. We were dominated by a better team. There was nothing we did that was good out there today, coach Lovie Smith said.Safety Leo Musso had two interceptions for the Badgers, including one on a pass that caromed off cornerback Sojourn Sheltons foot.It was planned. ... Ive been watching a lot of Ronaldo highlights, playing FIFA, said a smiling Shelton, referring to the Portuguese soccer star and the popular video game.It was that kind of afternoon for Wisconsin.THE TAKEAWAYIllinois: Any momentum from the thrilling victory over the Spartans disappeared quickly in the first quarter. A defense allowing 191.9 yards rushing a game coming into Saturday got overwhelmed on the ground. Tackling was poor, allowing the Badgers backs to break free for extra yards. On offense, the deep passing game needs work. George threw two interceptions in the first quarter alone and tended to miss high on long throws down the field.Asked if his team took a step back, Smith said At the end of the season you put it all together. ... Today we didnt get the job done and played bad ball.Illinois managed a few big rushing plays in the first half against the Big Tens best run defense. Kendrick Foster finished with 75 yards on 15 carries.Wisconsin: A laser-like focus on the next game has been a strength for coach Paul Chrysts team through a season in which expectations have grown each week. The Badgers showed no letup against Illinois. Leading 28-3 in the second quarter, Chryst kept players on their toes by calling for a successful fake punt on fourth-and-1 from the Wisconsin 41. Garret Dooley took the direct snap for a five-yard run and a first down.Once again, I thought our defense was really good, Chryst said. It was a good team win, and it didnt just happen. It was a good week of preparation.POLL IMPLICATIONSWith No. 3 Clemson losing to Pittsburgh, the Badgers figure to move up at least a spot when the next AP Top 25 poll is released on Sunday.STARTLING STATSWisconsin dominated Illinois up and down the stat sheet. • ESPN 60 forward E. Damien Williams Super Bowl Jersey .J. Montgomery has committed to Auburn, sources told ESPN.Montgomery took an unofficial visit to the Tigers campus earlier this month. The 6-foot-10 Montverde Academy (Florida) product averaged 9.8 points and 7.3 rebounds with the Atlanta Celtics at the Adidas Summer Championships in Las Vegas this summer. He also was among the Adidas Gauntlet rebounding leaders in the spring, with 9.3 per game. Montgomery is a high-ceiling prospect with plenty of upside moving forward.Hes the latest example of Bruce Pearl continuing to reinvent Auburn recruiting since taking over the program in the spring of 2014. The Tigers have arguably the best recruiting class in 2017, with five-star center Austin Wiley joined by ESPN 100 prospects Davion Mitchell and Chuma Okeke. In 2016, Pearl brought in five-star guard Mustapha Heron and ESPN 100 guard Jared Harper, and four-star forwards Horace Spencer and Danjel Purifoy highlighted the 2015 class.Montgomery is the first Auburn commit for 2018. Bashaud Breeland Super Bowl Jersey . According the Toronto Star, a knee injury will keep Sundin out of the lineup, which includes former teammates Gary Roberts, Darcy Tucker, Tie Domi and Curtis Joseph. BOSTON -- It didnt look as if Hanley Ramirez would be able to lift a bat, let alone swing one on Thursday night after he was involved in scary collision late in Bostons series finale loss to the New York Yankees.Ramirez not only bounced back, he provided the Red Sox with exactly the kind of offensive jolt they will need down the stretch to make a run at the postseason.Ramirez had two three-run homers for six RBI, David Ortiz added a homer and the Red Sox beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-4 on Friday night. It was a much-needed victory for the Boston, which had lost four of five.I think I dont have to be 100 percent to bat at this point in the season, because we know where we are, Ramirez said. Were right there. And its go time.It was the 20th multi-homer game for Ramirez.Boston scored four runs in each of the first two innings, ending a streak of 14 scoreless innings by the Diamondbacks starting pitchers. The Red Sox took advantage of some sloppy defensive play by Arizona, which committed two first-inning errors.Ortiz finished with three hits, including his 1,000th extra-base hit with Boston. We all know that hes got pop. And we all know what hes capable of, Ortiz said of Ramirez. Sometimes its even better when you promote yourself as not a home run hitter and youre hitting home runs every time you step up to the plate. It was all the run support needed for David Price (10-8), who struck out eight in eight innings to pick up the win.Price joined Zach Grienke as the only pitchers with 10 or more victories in each of the last eight seasons.Ive had my fair share of really bad games of two innings or three innings, or not making it through five or pitching into the sixth. So it helps to get those sevens or eights, Price said. But I still got to throw the ball better.Patrick Corbin (4-12) lasted only 1 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs and nine hits, including both of Ramirezs homers. His stuff was better tonight. The results werent, manager Chip Hale said. So well have to evaluate whats going on.The Diamondbacks took a lead in in the first inning on Rickie Weeks two-run homer over the Green Monster. That was quickly erased in Bostons half of the inning. After Dustin Pedroia reached on an error and Ortizz got aboard with a single, Ramirez cleared the bases with a line drive blast over the Monster to put the Red Sox in front. Christian Okoye Super Bowl Jersey. ryan Holaday later pushed the lead to 4-2 with an RBI single to center. All the runs in the inning were unearned, thanks to the two Arizona errors.Ramirezs second homer, to straight away center, stretched the Red Soxs lead to 8-2.TRAINERS ROOMDiamondbacks: Hale said RHP Rubby De La Rosa, who has been on the DL since May 27 with right elbow inflammation, is currently not throwing after experiencing some forearm and elbow tightness. Hale said hes had an MRI, but that the team has not received the results.Red Sox: Pedroia left the game after the second inning with flu-like symptoms. ... RHP Steven Wright (jammed right shoulder) threw at 90 feet and manager John Farrell said hes made substantial improvement over the last 24 hours. A start next Thursday has not been ruled out yet. ... RHP Koji Uehara (right pectoral strain) has also increased his throwing distance to 90 feet and will continue to increase the distance and volume based on tolerance.NICE PLAYSThe Red Sox got Price out of some early trouble in the first inning thanks to nifty outfield work by Jackie Bradley, Jr. After Jean Segura led off the game with a triple, Bradley charged in to snare a short line drive by Phil Gosselin. He came up firing and threw a dart to catcher Holaday who caught Segura leaning and quickly relayed a throw to third baseman Aaron Hill for the double play.Later in the seventh, rookie Andrew Benintendi added to the highlight reel with a diving catch in left field to rob Michael Bourn of a hit.UP NEXTDiamondbacks: RHP Archie Bradley (4-7, 4.80 ERA) has posted a 2.03 ERA over his last six road starts, while surrendering just one home run and limiting opponents to a .222 batting average over that span.Red Sox: RHP Clay Buchholz (4-9, 5.64 ERA) gets the start as Wright continues to mend his injured shoulder. That avoided a three-game New York sweep and kept the Orioles (71-59) in third place, three games behind Toronto. The games being played in Baltimore could help the Orioles, who have fared much better at home than on the road. He has given up 11 runs and 15 hits -- with five homers -- in nine innings of his last two starts, getting a no-decision against the Yankees and a loss to the Angels. The Orioles made a flurry of bullpen moves during the weekend to help a taxed group, and one of them paid off Sunday when newly signed Tommy Hunter threw a shutout inning. He had spent much of his career in Baltimore before being traded to the Chicago Cubs last year.Theyre also hoping center fielder Adam Jones can return. He left early in Fridays game with New York with a strained left hamstring and missed the rest of the series, but MLB.com said that he might return Monday. The Jays picked up catcher Dioner Navarro this weekend, and MLB.com reported Sunday that he should come to the team on Monday. Also, he served as Estradas catcher last year with the Jays.Plus, right-hander Aaron Sanchez, who had been with Class A Dunedin as Toronto has been watching his innings carefully, will come back Wednesday and start the third game of the series.Toronto leads the season series 7-6, but Baltimore has won both series at Camden Yards. Kevin King Super Bowl Jersey .C. -- Calgarys Kevin Koe did it the hard way again. Geronimo Allison Super Bowl Jersey . -- Sergey Tolchinksy scored his second goal of the game 3:56 into overtime as the Sault Ste. http://www.shoptheofficialpackers.com/Elite-Elgton-Jenkins-Packers-Jersey/ . -- Jonathan Drouin gave Halifax the boost it needed to edge host Sherbrooke Phoenix 3-2 in a shootout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. The teams marketing department offered a three-night special through Thursday: two outfield tickets for $7.?Under president of baseball operations John Hart and general manager John Coppolella, the franchise started a major rebuilding project about the same time the Doddgers dealt Kemp to San Diego before the 2015 season. DeForest Buckner Super Bowl Jersey. In recent years, the Braves have traded Craig Kimbrel, Jason Heyward, Justin Upton, Evan Gattis, Andrelton Simmons, Melvin Upton Jr.?and Shelby Miller, and the team let Brian McCann leave as a free agent. The only everyday player brought in was right fielder Nick Markakis as a free agent, but the goal was to acquire prospects.Atlanta is excited about the arrival of shortstop Dansby Swanson, a former No. 1 overall draft pick acquired in the Miller deal, second baseman Ozzie Albies and several young pitchers as it moves into a new ballpark a few miles north of Turner Field next year.Getting Kemp makes the team feel more legitimate. Its like we told him: Were trying to do something big here. Were in the infancy stages of it, and we really want you to be a part of it, Snitker said. I think he can be.Snitker batted Kemp between first baseman Freddie Freeman and Markakis. That trio might not sound like much to contending teams, but Kemps arrival is considered a big upgrade for Atlanta, which ranks last in the majors in runs and homers.Itll help Nick. Itll help Freddie, Snitker said. It helps everybody when you get a guy like that, as weve seen over the course of time. When one of those guys gets going, it kind of relaxes everyone else and doesnt make them feel like they have to do too much.In 254 games with San Diego, Kemp hit .264 -- 28 points lower than his nine-season batting average for the Dodgers -- with 46 homers, 169 RBIs and 247 strikeouts. Its a beautiful city;. Its a beautiful place to be, Kemp said of San Diego. They treated me well. Now, Kemp says hes all-in with the Braves.I dont think the East Coast really knows that much about me, Kemp said. • The top five teams in the polls at the midway point of the season: Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Washington. Jim Ritcher Jersey Retro .The top five in the AP poll released Sunday: Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Washington, Michigan.Glad we got that straightened out.If you are looking for the college football world to be topsy-turvy, you have to look below the top five. The top 12 at the midway point of the season included No. 6 Texas A&M, 2-4 in the second half of the season; No. 9 Tennessee, 3-3 in the second half; No. 10 Nebraska, 4-3 in the second half; No. 11 Baylor, 1-5 in the second half; and No. 12 Ole Miss, 2-5 in the second half and in last place in the SEC West. They are the reverse images of Penn State, Colorado, Oklahoma State and No. 12 USC, none of whom were ranked at the midway point. Its better to finish fast than start fast. And in the case of the top five, its best to do both.1. The College Football Playoff Selection Committee sure could use an upset in Orlando or Santa Clara. It would be a lot easier to leave out Virginia Tech or Colorado than it would be to leave out one of the three Big Ten teams remaining in the playoff picture. I include Ohio State among the what-ifs, because until we see the committee actually take a one-loss team that didnt win its conference championship, we dont know how much weight such a team carries. The Buckeyes have earned a berth in the playoff. But it would help their case if Oklahoma wins Bedlam on Saturday to win the Big 12 title.2. Texas brings in a young coach with ties to the university: Tom Herman, the 41-year-old former Longhorn GA? Or the 39-year-old Fred Akers, the longtime offensive coordinator under Darrell Royal who returned after two seasons as head coach at Wyoming to replace Royal in 1977? The hiring of Akers roiled the fan base, which wanted Royals defensive coordinator, Mike Campbell. The Orangebloods never gave Akers the benefit of the doubt, even when he led the Longhorns to the brink of national titles in 1977 and 1983. Akers was fired in 1986 after his only losing record (5-6) in 10 seasons. Herman, the object of Longhorn ardor all season, wont have Akers issues with the fans.3. It remains one of the mysteries of the college football universe that Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn, an offensive innovator in the modern game, would have such a bare cupboard at quarterback. He harnessed the wondrous talents of Cam Newton. He took Nick Marshall, whom Mark Richt decided should play cornerback at Georgia, and turned him into the quarterback who nearly led Auburn to the 2013 BCS championship. Since Marshall left two years ago, the Tigers are 15-10 overall, 7-9 in the SEC. Sean White has been competent when healthy, which didnt include November. How did Auburn get into this fix?4. Stanford junior Christian McCaffrey went from left behind at midseason to once again leading the FBS in all-purpose yards, with 2,327. McCaffrey missed one game because of injury this season and he wont play in the Pac-12 championship game, so the NCAA record of 3,864 yards he set in 14 games last season is safe. While he cant control when he gets hurt or when he plays which team, McCaffreys stats this season are loaded with empty calories. He gained nearly half (1,047 yards) of his 2016 output in November, when Stanford played Oregon, Cal and Rice, three of the worst defenses in the FBS.5. While McCaffreys numbers are very good, and Baker Mayfields and?Deshaun Watsons numbers are better than they were a year ago, its hard to see how any of them are gaining enough traction in the Heisman race to chase down Lamar Jackson. The Louisville sophomore had a raggedy finish, with three of his four worst QBR games to close the season. But Jacksons numbers in the first nine games of the season were so good that its hard to imagine what anyone could do Saturday to catch him. The fact that hes not playing leaves a window open. But its an awfully small window.6. Heres a piece of bar bet trivia for you. Minnesota has won more AP national championships (four) than Florida State (three), Texas (three) and Michigan (two). The Gophers won in 1936, 1940, 1941 and 1960, and it has been a rough 56 seasons since. But to give you another idea of how dominant Minnesota once was, look at its rivalry with Wisconsin for the Paul Bunyan Axe. The Badgers won the Axe on Saturday for the 13th consecutive season. That victory drew the Badgers even with the Gophers in the rivalry 59-59-8. The rivalry was last tied in 1901, at six victories apiece. Wisconsin has never led.7. Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt defended head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who is 24-26 in four seasons at his alma mater. Mark Helfrich is 37-16 at Oregon over the same four seasons and hanging onto his job by the web in his feet. Texas Tech might not want to buy out Kingsbury, but it says here that patience remains a virtue. Kingsbury simply must put more effort into shoring up a defense that been epically poor during his tenure. The Red Raiders have allowed more than 500 yards and 41 points per game in each of the past three seasons. Blake Countess Jersey Retro . With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season. ZHUHAI, China -- Third-seeded Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic overcame a slow start to beat Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday and win the Elite Trophy. After losing her opening three service games, Kvitova won five straight games to take the opening set.Kvitova carried the momentum into the second and dispatched the fourth-seeded Ukrainian in 1 hour, 10 minutes to claim her 19th career title.I played her in Wuhan and I was a break down there as well from the beginning of the match, Kvitova said. • Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Reigning champion and five-time titlist Serena Williams and last years runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska were a pair of easy opening-round winners Tuesday at Wimbledon. Jaire Alexander Super Bowl Jersey . The world No. 1 superstar Williams extended her career-best winning streak to 32 matches by handling Luxembourgs Mandy Minella 6-1, 6-3 on Centre Court at the venerable All England Club. Williams won every point on serve in a lopsided first set, but Minella stunningly broke the American stalwart and then held for a 2-0 lead in the second. The formidable Williams, however, then went on to win four straight games, including a pair of breaks, to assume control once again. Minella would later fight off a match point before the American great converted on a second to move on. "For me, its the greatest moment for a tennis player, to walk out on Centre Court," Williams said. "That was such a great moment, too. So many great memories on this court." Williams is now 75-3 since losing in the first round at last years French Open. The 31-year-old is the reigning Wimbledon, French Open and U.S. Open champ who owns 16 Grand Slam singles titles overall. She beat Radwanska in last years final here to capture her third Wimbledon title in four years and also captured an Olympic gold medal at the All England Club last summer. Up next for Williams will be Frances Caroline Garcia. The fourth-seeded Radwanska routed helpless Austrian Yvonne Meusburger 6-1, 6-1. The high-flying Williams and Radwanska were joined in the round of 64 by sixth-seeded Australian Open runner-up and former French Open champ Li Na, as the Chinese star drubbed Dutchwoman Michaella Krajicek 6-1, 6-1. The great Martina Navratilova holds the record, at 47 years of age. Halep headed to Wimbledon having won back-to-back tournaments, on clay in Germany and grass in The Netherlands, respectively. • TORONTO -- Corey Kluber will start on short rest Tuesday in the hopes that he can give his team a long rest going into the World Series. Air Max 270 React Noir Et Blanc .The Cleveland Indians will be entering Game 4 of the American League Championship Series trying to complete a four-game sweep after winning Game 3 over the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 Monday at Rogers Centre.By starting Tuesday, Kluber would be available for Game 7 should the Blue Jays awaken and extend the series that far. Kluber, who won Game 1 of the ALCS, will face Torontos Aaron Sanchez. When Clevelands Game 3 starter, Trevor Bauer, left after two-thirds of an inning, the Indians used six relievers to complete the final 8 1/3 innings.Indians left-hander Ryan Merritt, who has one career major league start and four appearances, had been listed as the tentative Game 4 starter.Manager Terry Francona, however, said he had little choice but to start Kluber, who is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA this postseason. If we dont bring him back (Tuesday) and he pitches Game 5, we dont have a starter for Game 7, Francona said. I mean, we have to physically have a starter. So this is the best way to do it. I mean, this is the only way to do it. Theres no other way around it. We dont have another starter right now. Its not that difficult.Kluber is 1/3 with a 5.34 ERA in five career regular-season starts against Toronto. However, on Friday in Game 1, he held them to six hits, two walks and two runs while striking out six in 6 1/3 innings.Sanchez will be making his second career postseason start and the second of this postseason. His previous postseason experience was as a reliever in 2015.Sanchez allowed six runs on three hits and four walks in taking a no-decision against the Texas Rangers in Game 3 of the American League Division Series, a game Toronto won in 10 innings. In the 2015 postseason, he was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 7 1/3 innings over nine games. In one start against Cleveland this season, Sanchez was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA. He is 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA in three career games, including two starts, against the Indians.Hopefully just to keep my emotions in check, Sanchez said when asked what he learned from his ALDS start vs. the Rangers. Ive been there before, last year, but it was out of the pen. The roles were a little bit different.Blue Jays manager John Gibbons juggled his lineup Monday, moves that included putting Jose Bautista in the leadoff spot, where he had been earlier in the season, and putting Troy Tulowitzki into the No. 4 spot. The duo went a combined 1-for-6 with two walks in the Game 3 loss.Gibbons said he did not anticipate making any more such moves.I may already have done that enough, Gibbons said. No, well run the boys out there (Tuesday) that got us to this point. Its a pretty good group and theyre due.The Indians insist they are not yet looking forward to the World Series. Were honestly not even thinking about it too much, said second baseman Jason Kipnis, who hit the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning Monday. And thats the best part about this. Even with the young guys on this team with not much postseason experience, after the first win versus Boston, everything slowed down for everyone, and it always feels like the next games are on the schedule, like weve been playing, like we have the whole time.We know were not ever out of it. • MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota football coach Tracy Claeys doubled down Sunday on his support for players who boycotted practices and threatened to skip a bowl game if 10 teammates suspended after a sexual assault investigation werent reinstated. Charvarius Ward Super Bowl Jersey .Speaking publicly for the first time since a standoff between 110 Golden Gophers football players and the administration, Claeys said he understands the players frustration with a Title IX investigation that they felt was inherently unfair to teammates who were accused of assaulting a woman at an off-campus dorm in September. As kids, they have no problems being held to a higher standard than the university requires and should require, Claeys said after Minnesotas practice. This is all about the due process.Claeys also clarified a comment he made on WCCO radio on Sunday morning when he said he was risking his job by supporting the players. The coach said he was just advising his players of possible ramifications during a team meeting on Thursday, before the team made the announcement to boycott.I was a sounding board for them and it was their decision, Claeys said. I made sure to make sure that they knew what the possible fallouts could be and we went through all those things. ... I was there to make sure that they were doing it for the right reasons and they knew what the consequences could be.The boycott ended Saturday when the team backed down and said they would play in the Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl against Washington State in San Diego, even though officials declined to reinstate their suspended teammates. The players agreed after getting assurances that those accused will get a fair hearing next month. After the entire team announced the boycott Thursday, Claeys publicly backed his players.Have never been more proud of our kids, Claeys tweeted at the time. I respect their rights (and) support their effort to make a better world!Claeys said Sunday he wished he would have chosen his words more carefully in the tweet, but said he did not regret sending it.If you just show support for the players behind closed doors, youre going to have a group of them that dont believe you, he said. I needed to do that in a public way and I tried to do it as short as possible. ... It was all about me supporting their actions to try to improve the due process. Not just on this campus but other campuses.Claeys said his players were not condoning sexual assault or harassment in any way. But they believed their suspended teammates were denied due process.Officials announced the suspensions Tuesday after an internal investigation determined the 10 players violated school conduct codes in an encounter involving a woman and several players on Sept. 2.According to the police report, the woman told police she had consensual sex with two men that night, but that she did not consent to sexual contact with other men who were present, including players. According to universitys more detailed internal report, she told university investigators that she believed 10 to 20 men had sex with her that night, though she wasnt sure largely from her experience of shock, pain and fear rather than from intoxication.Prosecutors declined to press charges, saying there was insufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, but the university uses a lower bar in student discipline cases.Linebacker Nick Rallis told WCCO the players believe the boycott succeeded, even though nobody was reinstated, because they believe it will ensure that athletes at Minnesota and other colleges who are accused of misconduct in the future get fair hearings. The Title IX investigative process has become a hotly-debated topic on campuses around the country. Opponents argue that school investigators are often not professionals and do not have subpoena power or the ability to put a witness under oath.Proponents say the problem of sexual assault on college campuses is too important, especially after the Department of Education threatened to pull federal aid for public schools if they did not increase their efforts to address the problem.Minnesota President Eric Kaler said Saturday that he understood that Claeys position.Coaches are in a challenging position, Kaler said. They need to support their players. They need to motivate their players. At the same time, they need to be responsible for their actions, and there are times in which those two demands put coaches in very difficult positions. And I think some of our coaches around this issue were in that very difficult position and well talk about that with them and try to improve both their understanding and our understanding.Claeys said he has spoken with athletic director Mark Coyle several times since Thursday and is not concerned about his job at the moment.I understand why (the suspensions) were made, Claeys said. But as for the players, the due process part was the part I did agree with on the players.---Associated Press Writer Steve Karnowski contributed to this report. Joe Montana Super Bowl Jersey . CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Jordane Carverys first career goal in the 25th minute of the first half and a solid defensively display throughout the match lifted the visiting LSU Soccer team to its first victory of the 2016 season with a 1-0 win over host College of Charleston in Sundays finale at the Charleston Classic at Patriots Point. The Tigers (1-1) have come away from Patriots Point with shutouts in each of their two matches all-time with the Cougars (0-2) after also picking up a 4-0 win in their inaugural meeting on Sept. 21, 2007.Im really pleased with our response from Friday night, said LSU head coach Brian Lee. Sunday afternoons are mostly about fight and how hard you work for the full 90 minutes, and I think our players did a good job of that to earn a result today. This gives us something positive to build on as we get ready for George Washington on Thursday. The Tigers sustained early pressure in the match as freshman Marlena Cutura and junior Debbie Hahn forced Cougar goalkeeper Lauren Killian into action in the opening stages. Killian went low to her left to deny LSUs Cutura the opening goal on an open effort from the top of the box in the ninth minute before making a leaping save on Hahns looping header from a corner kick just four minutes later.Carvery would give the visitors the lead midway through the first half with her first goal as an LSU Tiger as she buried Cuturas fourth corner kick of the match with a header at the far post in the 25th minute.I thought we played much better than we did our first game. We came out with a bang, we worked hard. We worked as a team, as a unit, which is something we needed to improve on, Carvery said after the match. Marlena had great crosses into the box, and I just finished off a chance. It was an easy one to finish where she served it in.The Tigers threatened to double their aadvantage into the second half when senior Summer Clarke skipped across the box and fired an open strike on the hour that was deflected out of play for a corner kick and junior Jorian Baucom fired on frame from eight yards following an entry pass by sophomore Alex Thomas in the 62nd minute. Cheap Jerseys From China. Baucom was later denied a breakaway attempt with less than two minutes to play that might have sealed the victory when she stepped in front of a Cougar free kick near midfield and found herself off to the races.Carvery, Thomas and Hahn teamed with senior Megan Lee at the back to stifle the Cougars going forward as they limited the home side to just six shots in the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Brockmeier saved each of the three shots on target she faced to earn her first clean sheet as an LSU Tiger.Debbie (Hahn) did an amazing job coming in at the back. She had a great attitude when she came in. She did a great job listening to Megan (Lee) and I about when to go and when to tuck in, Carvery continued. Alex (Thomas) did a great job blocking shots and anticipating what was going on. We just worked well as a unit, which is what a back four needs to do.Caroline communicates with us and tells us what to do and where to be when we need some direction, who to play it to. Shes strong on crosses and makes great saves, which is what we need her to do.With their season-opening weekend at the Charleston Classic at Patriots Point now in the books, the Tigers will welcome George Washington to Baton Rouge on Thursday night for their 2016 home opener that is ready to kick off at 7 p.m. CT at the LSU Soccer Stadium. They follow with another home match against visiting Colgate next Sunday, Aug. 28, at Noon. ' ' '

If a League of Legends tournament occurs during the offseason, days before free-agent frenzy (and most of the clubs invited reject the invitation faster than an RSVP to an exs wedding), does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?IEM Oakland is going to be the Mario Party of League of Legends tournaments. The event is going to start out as a fun game night with your friends that quickly turns into everyone wondering why they agreed to come over in the first place. Someone is going to win, and the others will file out the front door, telling the winner they didnt actually try to win and only came over to have some good-intentioned fun. There are six teams that will be traveling to the Bay Area to compete for the $50,000 first-place prize and ticket to the IEM World Championships in the spring of 2017. There were supposed to be eight teams, but with the tournaments awkward placement in the offseason between the end of the 2016 World Championships and free agency, a slew of teams declined to focus on shaping their rosters for the new campaign.Team SoloMid, for example, is without a starting AD carry after Yiliang Doublelift Peng announced hed be sitting out the 2017 spring split to clear his head. ESPN recently reported that former TSM AD carry Jason WildTurtle Tran will be standing in for the team in Oakland before jetting off to South Korea for a tryout with the recently NBA-cash-infused Team Dignitas. If WildTurtle does play, itll encapsulate this entire tournament: fun, but the result wont mean much. Well, except for one team (well talk about that later). The Bay Area fans will see a return of the Baylife TSM for one weekend, TSM will get to take a breather after a long, tiring year, and everyone will enjoy themselves. There will be laughter, and in the end, there will be a trophy given out, with the fans probably chanting T-S-M! -- whether or not TSM actually wins the tournament.Fear not, dear reader, I have you covered. As this is still one of the only international tournaments well have all year -- wow, thats a depressing thought, isnt it? -- a preview is necessary. So here are the storylines to watch for when six international teams battle it out for supremacy at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. In the past two years, the winners of the IEM Bay Area offseason tournament have gone on to be runners-up in their respective domestic spring splits.Coincidence? Most definitely. Grasping at straws? Once again, most definitely. The past two years, IEM have held similar tournaments before the free-agency period, and those tournaments ended with Cloud9 (2014) and Origen (2015) exiting as champions. Both clubs would then go on to make the finals of their respective LCS leagues that spring, and both would fall in defeat -- C9 losing to TSM in the 2015 NA LCS spring final and Origen falling to G2 Esports in the 2016 EU LCS final. Now that its scientifically proven that winning this tournament means youre going to get second place in your upcoming league, itll be a treat to see which club leaves Oakland with $50,000, a seat at the table for the IEM World Championships and a guaranteed silver medal for the spring split.People can finally chant T-S-M! appropriately.Covering the World Championships was awesome. Even when TSM was knocked out in the group stages, it never actually felt as if they left the tournament. The crowds in Madison Square Garden and Staples Center chanted for the team with a tireless fervor. This time around, the American fans will actually get to see TSM in person. And itll actually make sense when fans chant the three most known letters in NA esports -- instead of chanting them before the fifth and final game of one of the best League matches of all time (SK Telecom T1 and the ROX Tigers inside Madison Square Garden).Yes, that actually happened.Lose-lose for Longzhu.Out of the six teams competing in Oakland, only Longzhu can leave a loser. If TSM loses, all they need to do is bring up the AD carry substitute. Chiefs and INTZ are from wild-card regions. Flassh Wolves are using two substitutes. Ken Dorsey Jersey. Unicorns of Love are the Unicorns of Love. Longzhu was a supposed super-team that never reached its full potential last year. Longzhu is a South Korean team, and South Korea just made a mockery of every other region at the World Championships, and you have a club that needs to win this dangerous game of Mario Party in fear of being booted from the LCK.Longzhu really have no excuses if they lose. Theyve had the same roster for an entire year. Theyre from South Korea, the mecca of esports infrastructure. On paper, the teams individual talent is more than enough to beat some clubs playing with substitutes, wild-card teams and Unicorns of Love. And if Longzhu does win, then it doesnt really mean much since -- you know -- theyre playing against a bunch of misfit teams in an offseason tournament. So whether the team dominates everyone or gets bounced in the first round by a wild-card team, there really isnt an ending here in which Longzhu comes out looking better. The club just lost to the Jin Air Green Wings in the first round of the KeSPA Cup, so its not as if Longzhu comes into Oakland with any momentum behind them.Heres the bright side: Longzhu still has a lot of money, so if things go awry, the Chinese-sponsored team can always drive garbage trucks filled with money to the front of Kim Deft Hyuk-kyus house in hopes of turning around their fortunes.Hooray for wild-card regions! Its always fun to see the wild-card regions participate alongside the clubs from major regions, and well get to see that with Oceanias Chiefs and Brazils INTZ coming to IEM Oakland. We already saw INTZ at the World Championships, and although the team didnt make it out of the first round, INTZ did take a game off of Chinas champion EDward Gaming. IEM Oakland isnt going to be as structured or as long as Worlds, so INTZ could have a chance of making a surprise run into the bracket stage. For the Chiefs, this will be one of the first times we see Oceania on the world stage. The team has been the overlord of Australia for seemingly forever, yet the club has always failed in the wild-card qualifications to make it to one of the bigger international events. This time, however, the Chiefs didnt let the opportunity slip by, and they will now have the chance to possibly beat a team like Longzhu. This is all we have.We have Worlds, the Mid-Season Invitational, the One-Week Players Vacation (aka All Stars), two or three IEM circuit events and the IEM World Championship. Thats it. We get less than seven international tournaments a year, and only three of them are classified as major tournaments. IEM Oakland is a mess in a lot of ways, but its one of the only times well get to see a team such as the Chiefs take on Longzhu.Unicorns of Love vs. INTZ? I didnt ask for this, but its actually an interesting match if you think about it. We know the top tier of South Korean teams is better than everyone else in the world, but can Longzhu -- a non-playoff team -- make fools of the rest of the world, too? How deep is South Korea? How good is the middle of NA compared to Europe? Are the Chiefs out of their depth, or can they shock the world?IEM Oakland will probably turn out to be a silly event, but we want to see these what-ifs come to life in a somewhat competitive environment. Before we know it, the free-agency period will be over, and well be back to domestic play, with the regions separated until the Mid-Season Invitational, when SK Telecom T1 will probably sweep whoever is lucky enough to reach the finals. So to answer the question: Does this tournament matter? Yes, it does.IEM Oakland, like the prior IEM San Jose tournaments, is different. And in League of Legends, where domestic play has taken over the calendar year, except for two weeks in May and a month in the fall, different will always be a good thing, no matter how many teams show up to the party. • ST. Kentavius Street Super Bowl Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Detroit slugger Miguel Cabreras 10th inning at-bat against Tampa Bay closer Fernando Rodney overshadowed the Rays comeback victory. Yunel Escobar had an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Rays rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Tigers on Saturday night. But most of the attention after the game centred on Cabrera yelling at the Tampa Bay dugout after he struck out against Rodney. The Rays right-hander threw an in-tight and up pitch to back Cabrera off the plate during the at-bat. "I dont know what hes saying," Rodney said. "Im trying to do my job. You have to pitch inside sometimes. You have to pitch inside, outside, everywhere. You dont want to hit nobody because the game is on the line. "Thats what I got on my mind, try to move (him) a little bit because the guy is a dangerous hitter." Cabrera declined to comment about the confrontation, but Tigers manager Jim Leyland talked about it in a strong way. "I dont care about throwing inside, but I dont like it up there, and we will not tolerate that," Leyland said. "Im not accusing anybody of anything but we wont tolerate that. If youre going to just rare back and throw it, you cant throw it there. Thatll cause a lot of problems for people. Thats not a good idea. Thats not acceptable. "We lost a tough game. They earned the win, they got the win, and OK, more power to them, but throwing in that area is not acceptable, and somebody pays the price for that throughout baseball. Thats just the way baseball is. Thats not free. Theres no free lunch. That wont be tolerated. You can take that to the bank" Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said he had no idea why Cabrera was upset. "Youd have to ask him why," Maddon said. "I was kind of surprised, actually." Rodney (3-2) threw two scoreless innings for the win Cabrera went 1 for 4 with a walk, but his major league-leading batting average dropped two points to .375. He has a 14-game hitting streak. James Loney had a one-out single in the 10th off Bruce Rondon (0-1). Pinch-runner Sam Fuld went to second on Wil Myers single, and after Luke Scott struck out, both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Escobar won it for the Rays with a line drive that sailed over the head of centre fielder Austin Jackson. "Im very happy that I was able to help the team win," Escobar said through an interpreter. Scott tied it at 3 on a solo homer with one out in the eighth off Tigers starter Justin Verlander, who allowed three runs, nine hits and four walks during a season-high eight innings. Verlander is winless in his last four starts. "This is the game weve talked about that we have to start winning, and we won it tonight against a really good team," Maddon said. Rays slugger Evan Longoria was out of the starting lineup for the first time this season due to a sore right foot. The third baseman, who left Friday nights game, is also expected to sit out on Sunday against the Tigers. Jackson hit an opposite-field solo homer to right, and Jhonny Peralta had a two-run single off Chris Archer that put the Tigers ahead 3-0 in the third. Archer gave up three runs, five hits, three walks and had three strikeouts in five innings. Loney had an RBI single during the fifth to get the Rays within 3-2. Verlander avoided further damage by getting a double-play grounder from rookie Myers with two on and one out. Loney grounded into a double play with runners on the corners and one out in the seventh. Myers flied out with two runners on to end the first. Tampa Bays Desmond Jennings tripled and scored on Ben Zobrists grounder in the third. Jennings, playing in centre, was charged with an error in the eighth, which snapped a streak of 262 games in the outfield without a miscue. We will see what happens out of that over the tribunal process.Pressed as to what it could potentially mean to his defensive stocks, Pyke said: We will cross that bridge when we come to it.Talias uncharacteristic aggression on Petrie will also be examined though replays appeared inconclusive as to the force, and where the contact landed. The Crows can ill afford to lose either defender for their away clash against a Swans outfit seeking to respond to a heavy qualifying loss to Greater Western Sydney.(Beating North) is one step, the first step for us in terms of where wed like to take our finals campaign, Pyke said. And the next step is Sydney in Sydney so a terrific challenge.I saw only a bit of the (Sydney) game before we came to our game so I will have a look at them closely. But clearly they are going to be disappointed from the result and well expect a fired up Sydney next week. Vapormax 97 Scontate . Green had bounced around the NBA when he wasnt playing overseas. The Pacers gave up on Plumlee after just one season. Now Green and Plumlee are key cogs in the Suns surprising breakout season. The most significant postseason of modern times didnt just crown a champion, bust a curse and leave millions of Americans wondering what they could do to get that Go Cubs Go song out of their heads.More than that, it opened a window -- a window into where the sport of baseball has evolved and where it is going. So if you looked through that window, what did you see?You saw a sneak preview of the stars of the future on parade, for one thing. If you dont believe that players such as?Francisco Lindor, Corey Seager, Noah Syndergaard, Aaron Sanchez, Julio Urias, Roberto Osuna and those young Cubs studs are going to leave a major impression on this game, you were clearly paying way too much attention to your fantasy football lineup. But beyond those bright young faces, there was much more to see through that window. So lets hone in now on two of those sights. One could have a gigantic impact on this sport off the field. The other could signal a profound change on the field. Heres what we mean:Could the Cubs be the Warriors of baseball?More than 40 million people watched the baseball game that decided the World Series -- the most in a quarter-century. An estimated 5 million people showed up at the Cubs World Series parade -- the largest gathering of human beings for any reason in the recorded history of the Western Hemisphere. So ... get the impression that theres a little interest in this team?Oh, maybe it will turn out that the Cubs are just trending because they did something that hadnt exactly been the specialty of their house for the previous century. But inside Major League Baseball, it feels like more than that. This sport has been waiting for years for a team like this to come along. A team that moves the needle in a way that other champs dont. A team that transcends its city, its market or any sort of traditional geographic blip on the radar screen.Well, if baseball cant turn this team into That Team, then it might be time to conclude it cant be done. Not in this sport, at least. But all the evidence suggests it can. And its happening. Right before your eyes. The data verifies it: ratings, social media traffic, merchandise sales. And every force baseball could ask for to make this sustainable is all lined up to keep this meteor shooting through the American sky.? Staying power: Is there any reason to think this club isnt built to last? It had seven position players, age 26 or younger, who got more than 250 plate appearances. Thats the most by any World Series champion since the 1942 Cardinals, a team that went on to play in three straight World Series and four of five -- and win three of them. Every one of those Cubs players is under control through at least 2020.? Star power: Maybe theres no one Cub who is the baseball equivalent of Stephen Curry. But for sheer quantity of transcendent personalities, what team in baseball compares with this one? It employs two of the top four finishers in the MVP voting (Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo). And two of the top three in the Cy Young balloting (Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester), plus last years Cy Young winner (Jake Arrieta). Not to mention the runner-up for NL Manager of the Year (Joe Maddon). And the World Series MVP (Ben Zobrist). And a whole array of rising stars beyond that group, in Javier Baez, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber and Willson Contreras. But in a moment, youll see that this isnt just about their star power as baseball players.? The power to connect with fans: Face it. One of the biggest problems baseball has had in attracting people outside its core fan base is that way too many franchises and way too many players say no when they should be saying yes -- to stuff that Curry, LeBron James, Peyton Manning and stars in other sports have done for years. But this is a group that gets it. Has there been a single day, since they won the World Series, where you havent seen a delegation of Cubs showing up in front of somebodys camera with everyone from Jimmy Fallon to Ellen DeGeneres? It doesnt feel like it. And that means more in popular American 21st-century culture than youd think. When you see them dancing on Saturday Night Live and you see them laughing on Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel and The Tonight Show, these are all the things that go with being a crossover team and crossover personalities, one baseball official said. Theyve really embraced the moment.Study after study has shown that what the casual fan wants most from its stars, in this culture, is access. Well, have you checked out your social media streams lately? This team is out there, letting its personality show -- and letting the world in to share their fun. And what has been the upshot of all that Twitter merriment? The Cubs have exploded on social media. Thats what. According to statista.com, it took them four years (2011 to 2015) to reach 500,000 Twitter followers. This year, theyve gained more than 500,000 just since Opening Day. So theyre now up to more than 1.36 million, the third-most followers in baseball (behind the Yankees and Red Sox). Thats more than the Royals and Indians combined.Whats the magic formula for any team to reach breakout orbit, the point where it begins turning nonsports fans into sports fans, nonbaseball fans into baseball fans and non-Chicagoans into Cubs fans? I think were looking at it.So it turns out the Cubs didnt just leave their mark on this postseason. They appear to have left their mark on future seasons. And if thats how it turns out, their sport will be eternally grateful. Are the days of push-button managing over?If there was any doubt that there is more deep, outside-the-box thinking going on in baseball these days than at any time in history, this postseason sure cleared that up.For four riveting weeks, we watched games that were being played and managed in a style that often bore zero resemblance to the way this sport has operated for the past two decades. And thats a tribute to how many people in baseball now look at the way things have been done for a century and ask: Why?There were 10 games in this postseason in which at least one team used at least 18 of the 25 players on its roster. We also saw games in which the Dodgers and Indians almost seemed to be changing lines on the fly, fueled by data and the constant search for platoon advantages. If rosters exxpand to 26 or 27 players, as seems likely to happen in the next labor agreement, that trend toward maximizing platoon advantages could be a bigger focus than ever. Vapormax Plus Miglior Prezzo. But the most significant development of this postseason was clearly the emergence of the Multi-inning Super Reliever. And by the middle of next season, we should know definitively that when we utter that phrase, we wont be talking about only?Andrew Miller. Just ask Miller himself.I think its maybe a little harder to do that for 162 games, the Indians left-handed game-changer said during the World Series. But I think were heading in the direction.Wait. Are we really steaming toward an age in which teams ask their best relievers to face six to eight hitters, at any point from the fifth inning on, every couple of days, over a six-month season? To be honest, I dont think anyone sees that coming -- unless they want the whole bullpen to wind up in traction by the Fourth of July. But here is what baseball front offices do see coming:? More freedom to use impact relievers at different points in the game, in moments of maximum leverage. That could be the closer. Or it could be the best setup man, who wouldnt necessarily be considered just the eighth-inning guy anymore.? A different approach to what was already an emerging trend, at a time when many starters are no longer allowed to go through the lineup three times: Rather than use the seventh or eighth man in the bullpen as the multi-inning reliever (previously known as the long man), teams could target a whole different type of pitcher to work multiple innings in more high-leverage spots. Think about guys with big arms who keep flaming out as starters because they dont have the ability to get through lineups more than once.? A newfound interest in paying relievers closer money even if theyre going to be used in situations where they wont be getting a save on the old stat sheet.? And, in a related development, a newfound willingness by some big-name relievers to pitch in those situations, whether they get a save to show for it or not. In fact, one club executive reports that there are [prominent free-agent] relievers out there who have sent the message this winter that, If you pay me, I dont really care where you pitch me.Whoa. Could all of that really be coming to a ballpark near you by 2017? Well, to be honest, its too soon to say. Frankly, when weve surveyed veteran relievers about this trend, many have expressed great skepticism that anyone could make it through a season healthy while assuming a workload remotely similar to Millers postseason role. But they should know that, in their very own front offices, the folks who are gazing into baseballs future arent so sure of that. Not anymore.Go open a baseball encyclopedia, or baseball-reference.com, said one AL executive. Look up Goose Gossage and Sparky Lyle. And youll see that the concept of a relief ace who throws 70 games and 120 innings is not new. Its something thats been done before to great effect. When I hear you cant have a guy throw 40 pitches every couple of days, my reaction is, Why not? the exec went on. We have amazing pitchers in this game who are only throwing 60 innings in a year. I dont know how 60 innings would be considered overworking anybody. ... I dont see why you cant ask a guy to go two innings Tuesday and two innings Thursday.Indians manager Terry Francona said during the American League Championship Series that hed love to see young relievers get valued for their work, not their save totals, in their arbitration-eligible years, because I think then youd see bullpens used differently. But one veteran reliever says that unless there were strict controls on multi-inning usage, that would still be a tough sell.Otherwise, he said, youre going to take a guy and use him in a way where he could potentially break down before he ever gets to six years of service time. So hed never get to free agency. The agents would be furious. But if teams already have decided that this is the way relievers are going to be used in the future, that veteran reliever went on, managers need to alert those men now.If its going to happen, it cant start in midseason, or even on the first day of spring training, he said. It probably has to be communicated in an offseason phone conversation. Id need to know that far in advance, so I can approach my conditioning for the season in a different way.If the game is really going down this road, it actually increases the pressure on managers in many ways. You recognize that, right? They need to understand who on their staff is capable of going multiple innings and who isnt. They need to be extra conscious of getting their multi-inning guys plenty of rest. And most important of all, they need to know exactly what a high-leverage situation really looks like, because -- and heres the biggest headline of the day -- it looks as if the days of push-button managing might be about to go the way of the Brontosaurus. And wont that be a boon for second-guessers everywhere? But thanks to what we just saw this October, all of that deep thinking is going on as we speak, in front offices across the country -- because the benefits are greater than youve probably contemplated. If you can start using your best guys more aggressively, youre making your whole team better, said the exec quoted earlier. If you can take 60 innings away from the 12th pitcher on your staff and give it to your best relievers, thats a huge difference. And then theres an even deeper concept. Do you need to carry 13 pitchers -- or can the better guys absorb those last 50 to 80 innings? If you can assign those innings to your better pitchers, maybe it actually creates another roster spot and you can give your manager a better bench because of that.So the ripple effects of Millers October run thick and wide. And virtually every team in the game is already trying to figure out how just how thick, just how wide and just how practical this could be over the course of a season. Now, maybe this change was coming anyway. Eventually. But all of a sudden, its full speed ahead -- thanks to the most significant postseason of modern times. ' ' '

    • Dhoni runs Taylor out - without looking The day before the Ranchi ODI, MS Dhoni left Ross Taylor and Tom Latham gawking by driving past the New Zealand team bus in his hummer, with sunglasses on. Larry Jordan Jersey Store . On Wednesday, Dhoni left Taylor smiling wryly after running him out with a cunning back-hand flick, with sunglasses on. Taylor had just heaved a length ball to the left of Dhawal Kulkarni at fine leg. The fielder swiftly collected the ball and threw it at chest height to Dhoni, who nonchalantly deflected it back onto the leg stump - as he often does - his back facing the crease. Cue in massive cheers from Dhonis home crowd. The Mishra drop I Amit Mishra is the second-oldest member in Indias squad, behind Dhoni, and probably the least athletic of the lot. Mishras issues in the field were put in the spotlight in the seventh over. Martin Guptill, who was in the mood to hit out, had looked to shovel an Umesh Yadav slower ball straight down the ground. The lack of pace meant Guptill dragged it in the air to the left of mid-on. Mishra lumbered in, dived, but the ball merely grazed his left hand and bobbled onto the ground. Not a straightforward chance by any measure, but Mishra could have had a go had he reacted quicker. The Mishra drop II The day would get worse for Mishra in the field. After dropping Guptill on 29, Mishra botched a much simpler catch at long-off when Guptill was on 62. Seeing a short, wide delivery, Guptill belted it down the ground. It could have been a regulation catch for Mishra had he stayed on the edge of the long-off boundary. Instead, he ran in. Realising he had misjudged the ball, he did not leap as he stretched his hands upwards to intercept the ball. It wasnt enough. The ball went over his head and then plonked behind him for a one-bounce four. Scott Styris, who was on TV commentary at the time, quipped: Guptill picked out the right fielder. Guptill went on to make 72.Latham shows them how its done Latham plucked two sharp catches, which highlighted the gulf between the two teams in the field, towards the end of the chase. When Manish Pandey unleashed a fierce bottom-handed shovel against a Tim Southee slower ball in the air in the 33rd over, Latham timed his jump to perfection and took with catch with both his hands over his head at mid-on. Mitchell Santner, who was at midwicket, also leapt in his position in a neat synchronised routine. Three overs later, Latham ran to his left from wide long-off to track down a loft from Hardik Pandya with precision. Don Wells Jersey Store . The winner Saturday will remain in the elite 10-team field next year. "We talked about wanting to be disciplined and stick with our game plan and good things will come," Draisaitl said, who had two goals for the victors. Daniel Ricciardo expects Formula Ones top three teams to be locked in a fierce battle for race wins in the remaining five races of the season.Collectively, Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari have won the past 72 races, spanning across four seasons, ?with 48 going the way of the Silver Arrows. The Australian -- who broke a two-year race victory drought last weekend in Malaysia -- says he believes the dominance Mercedes have enjoyed in recent years is set to diminish.I expect the rest of the season to be tight, Ricciardo said. The top three teams will be going hammer and tongs the rest of the year.I think [in Japan] if we can get the car hooked up in qualifying we can be strong and close to Mercedes and hopefully ahead of Ferrari.Ricciarddos best lap in Friday practice was ruined when Esteban Gutierrez triggered the virtual safety car after his Haas stopped on circuit with a technical issue. Cedric Killings Jersey Store. Had he been able to complete his flying lap, Ricciardo believes he would be right in the mix with the frontrunners. It was a pretty good afternoon and we made some improvements from this morning so I think the lap we had to abort was definitely going to be in the 1m32s, so that probably would have put my behind Kimis time.Ferarri look pretty strong, but were close enough for today and our long run pace seemed pretty solid at the end there.
